🚨 The Supreme Court has immediately issued its judgment striking down Louisiana’s congressional map as a racial gerrymander.
"There is no doubt that the Supreme Court got this decision right," says @DAGToddBlanche on Louisiana v. Callais. "There is also no doubt that the existing system was not consistent with our Constitution, and that's what the Supreme Court found."
Remember the record-long Homeland Security shutdown? Homeland Security Committee Ranking Member Bennie Thompson says Democrats are poised to do it AGAIN. Q: "When you say 'absolutely' that suggests there could be another shutdown and that there could be another lapse in pay for those TSA workers, the Coast Guard, if Democrats withhold those votes at the end of September." Thompson: "Absolutely."

🚨 In a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court strikes down Louisiana's new congressional map that added a second majority-black district, holding that it constitutes a racial gerrymander. The Court narrows its previous interpretation of the Voting Rights Act.
Today's VRA decision is intellectually dishonest and wrong. The conservatives basically said: Black people can vote for their preferred candidates, as long as they prefer the right candidates -- which will be Republicans. An absolutely mockery of the law and stain on the court.
