@MichaelKudrna FTC won’t block it because Sysco can claim Restaurant Depot competes with Costco, BJs, Sam’s, and USF’s restaurant depot knockoff

@MichaelKudrna Also: Some Sysco houses have cash and carry operations for customers to pick up.. but it usually sucks because: - you have to order ahead - pricing isn’t always transparent - the warehouse is often in a terrible location - the hours are limited Restaurant Depot fixes all that.

I know exactly what Sysco does....they deliver food to restaurants. I know exactly what Restaurant Depot does .... they sell food to restaurants. Thats two distributors, same level, same customer. That's horizontal. Vertical is when you buy your supplier or your customer. But hey don't take my word for it... ask the FTC, they literally defined these as separate markets in the same industry when they blocked Sysco-US Foods in 2015

@MichaelKudrna You either don’t know the definition of vertical integration or you don’t know what Sysco does

The @MLB should… - reduce the schedule to ~100 games - wrap everything up by Labor Day - move to a direct from team or league broadcast model, no blackouts - 7 inning games, get rid of runner on 2nd in extras - keep umps, but automate balls/strikes Accessible scarcity

My $0.02: - Right now, I'd only trust this stuff to handle one off tasks like cleaning up CRM data or generating custom reports. - I wouldn't trust an agent using MCP to do things in a workflow or automated step. The MCP client, the tools, and the LLMs that interact with them are too unpredictable. - From what I've seen so far, Claude has the best and most accessible MCP client. I expect ChatGPT to catch up, but they are leading on this. - Maintaining an MCP server's tools is a full-time job. Very similar to managing a REST API.

For the last couple weeks I've been on an "Management Sabbatical" – a term I dubbed for where I'm working full-time, but on none of my typical leadership/management type work. Instead, I'm getting to just explore ideas and reconnect with some IC work. Almost no calls/meetings, just Maker Time – for nearly the whole summer. Couldn't be more excited about it! I decided to do this since the timing seemed perfect: - We split our big Product/Eng team into 6 smaller teams at EOY (I'll write more about this re-org later), and those teams are now fully up-and-running - We recently got back from our Paris all-company retreat where the whole company got increased clarity/alignment around product vision & roadmap - Some key leadership hires on my team were hired and fully onboarding recently, and doing great. - With AI, there's never been a more exciting time to just build! What exactly am I up to? - Deeper exploration of AI Coding Agents - Getting re-acquainted with some more modern coding practices and actually shipping code on @Close again - Exploring other creative ideas that may be impactful to the business - Whatever else seems interesting :) I expect this time of being less-busy will be refreshing, give me better perspective, and ultimately help me come back as a better Leader. Very grateful for the full support from @Steli & @anemitz and other EPD leadership coworkers to give me space to do this!
