Hello, my new followers. Since that random post went viral (well, viral *for me*), I figured I’d introduce myself and give you a chance to unfollow. I’m ordained American Baptist. I’m Wesleyan in most things sans baptism and ecclesiology. I’m evangelical, egalitarian, and hold to a traditional sexual ethic. I’m basically a New Testament theologian. Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox are fellow Christians, and I love talking with serious folks in those sides of the Christian family. My first two degrees were film degrees, so you may get the occasional movie take. I’m married to Allison and we’re mom and dad to a five year old and a soon-to-be-born little one. I pastor in the Greater Los Angeles area. I homebrew. My PhD (ABD) is on the New Testament and Universal Salvation (no, not a universalist). I have too much grey in my beard. I’m also buds with @thechurchsplit and @DPGBehler and @jdpritchett so you can tell my sense of humor is broken. Nice to meet y’all.

This is actually a really great question. I’d have to think about it because the people I know best I generally know from other places as well as X, so if it’s X exclusive, that narrows it a little. Romantically, I’ll keep those peeps a secret, but I’ll take applications for X friends that wanna grab some food 😏

@NickQuient You feeling any better this afternoon? I used to get crippling migraines years ago. Thankfully they stopped a few years ago. But they were horrible. Praying for you, brother.

Keep me in prayer. Migraine hit me really hard yesterday. Lots of stress to process and I’m lacking in the sleep department.

@NickQuient I have a weird pastime; I scroll seminary faculty rosters when I’m bored. It’s pretty much true, and thus based.

Based on my research: if you want to be a professor at a Southern Baptist school, get your PhD at a Southern Baptist school.

Does anyone “go to heaven” when they die? I thought the Bible talks about us living on the new earth with God. If so, why tell people that if they believe in Jesus they will “go to heaven”?
