League Cup semis would be more dramatic as one-off games. The two-leg format works in European games , but feels outdated in domestic cups. Both teams anxious to stay in tie.

Amid the many recruitment woes since 2013, United have demonstrated a troubling tendency to hold on for too long to players they should not have kept (Martial, Lindelof, Rojo, Jones etc) & sell prematurely those they should have retained (Welbeck, Evans, Carreras & McTominay etc)

The manner of Ruben Amorim's sacking is what concerns me most about it. It is not as if it isn't justified by his managerial record, but the decision making within. Because of a breakdown in relations, a power struggle? It screams dysfunction. If you trace it back further to his hiring, the situation around Dan Ashworth's departure, the lack of consensus in bringing Amorim in, his philosophy & system, how it would be implemented & squad be built, the rationale & decision making is not in sync. Whatever happens, whether he is the only significant figure to leave the club or not, Manchester United won't get things right until they address why this has happened twice in fourteen months. Otherwise we're stuck on this hamster wheel.

Amorim: “When I look at the matches we lost, I don't think we lost because of the system. That's my opinion.”

🚨 | Ruben Amorim’s tactics and man-management are being questioned by some in the #mufc dressing room. There is a feeling at the club that the head coach may resign as early as next week unless results pick up. [@JamieJackson___]

Nasty nasty stuff

Tuchel on England’s 2024 Euros… 🗣️"They were more afraid to drop out of the tournament than having the excitement and hunger to win it"😮 I am so ready for this Thomas Tuchel era😍 LET’S HAVE IT💪🏴🏆

Parma have officially announced the appointment of Cristian Chivu as the club's new coach, replacing Fabio Pecchia on a contract that runs until 2026. football-italia.net/official-parma… #Chivu #Pecchia #Parma #SerieA #Calcio

City going through in the Champions League after winning 3 games in 8 against Bratislava, Sparta Prague and Brugge. The new format is still shite and I won't hear any differently. The safety net is far too big.

🚨🔴 Patrick Dorgu to Manchester United, here we go! Verbal agreement in place with Lecce, documents to be checked in next 24h. Fee will be €30m plus €5m in add-ons not guaranteed. Long term contract agreed days ago with the player… …and first signing for Rúben Amorim. 🤝🏻

Yeah I don't think this will do anything and if it does maybe for a game or two. You can't overcome tactical issues with "just show more passion and mentality", all they'll be doing is running themselves to the ground. Liverpool and Arsenal were nullified by the 5-4-1 low block and then the mentality and passion definitely helped. They were focused. Vs Liverpool; Trent went on vacation so gave United an opening (Dalot's position gave him a lot of issues and he was slow to press) Vs Arsenal the one attack we had in the second half was gifted to us by Gabriel Magalhães. Before anyone says the "red card"; watch the first half again. We had nothing going forward. Zero. Nada. Amorim has to be willing to take more risks. Add more attackers, tinker with the formation in possession at least.
