Robinhood vs Hyperliquid Q1 results Clear cyclical downtrend in crypto trading. Robinhood crypto revenue fell to $134 million (-39.4% QoQ), while Hyperliquid crypto trading revenue fell to $179.7 million (-31.0% QoQ). Still, Hyperliquid’s crypto revenue was higher than Robinhood’s crypto line, while its RWA revenue grew +454.8% QoQ. Users also grew 29.6% QoQ to 1.19M, versus Robinhood funded customers up roughly 1.5% QoQ. HYPE’s discount to TradFi comps has largely been a cyclicality discount on crypto-linked cash flows. But with RWA now >30% of volumes, HIP-4 adding binary outcomes, and revenue volatility already roughly in line with Robinhood through the slowdown, that discount looks less justified. At $192.3M of Q1 protocol income versus Robinhood’s $346 million of net income, HYPE looks incredibly cheap at a $9.5 billion circulating market cap against HOOD trading at $74 billion.

The Hyper Foundation is proposing a validator vote to formally recognize the Assistance Fund HYPE as burned, removing the tokens permanently from the circulating and total supply. For context, the Assistance Fund converts trading fees to HYPE in a fully automated manner as part of the L1 execution. The Assistance Fund uses the system address 0xfefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefe. Similar to the zero address, the Assistance Fund system address has never had a private key with control over its funds. Funds are mathematically irretrievable without a hard fork. By voting “Yes,” validators agree to treat the Assistance Fund HYPE as burned. No onchain action is required, as the tokens are already in a system address with no private key. This vote is binding social consensus to never authorize a protocol upgrade to access this address. Voting process: + Validators should signal their intent in the governance forum by December 21 at 04:00 UTC (i.e., reply with Yes or No) + Users can stake to a validator who matches their view by December 24 at 04:00 UTC + The result will be based on stake-weighted consensus as of December 24 at 04:00 UTC

A common question I’ve heard in Seoul is: what makes Hyperliquid special? I haven't found a way to distill it all into a sentence, but one reason that stood out to me the past few days is the culture of dreaming big and executing, while staying true to the original ethos of defi: integrity, fairness, and transparency. The work is hard, and there are many crucial components to be built. But that’s the beauty of the Hyperliquid community. Builders rise to the challenge and push the frontier of what is possible. I’ve never been more excited to continue building alongside everyone. Since beginning work on Hyperliquid a few years ago, this was my first time traveling to meet so many community members, and also my first time in Korea. Thank you to @hlh_build organizers @hyperpc_ and @B__Harvest for an incredible hackathon, to @christyhwchoi for the thoughtful fireside chat at KBW, and to @SKYGG_Official/@hypurrcorea, @hypurr_co, and @Hyperliquid_KR for tonight’s community event. Most of all, thank you to the builders, traders, and community members who give Hyperliquid its soul. I’m blown away by the hospitality, energy, and talent growing every day.
