The night before, neighbor John saw Hailey’s husband Jay Dempsey put on a bulletproof vest and load a duffel bag into his car. Days earlier, Hailey had called police after an argument with him. Jay was detained near the scene, then released. He quickly left town, deleted all social media, and vanished — last seen driving his dead wife’s car at 3am. Police are seeking surveillance footage from North Burton and West Tever Streets between 5:30–7am Sunday. Anyone with information on Jay Dempsey’s whereabouts should contact Plant City Police.
