A short story.

I’ve been privileged to have spent the last few months mixing this. Airing on Sky from Nov 7th and streaming on Peacock from Nov 14th. Thanks to the great sound team I was so fortunate to have with me and to the producers and directors who have made something truly incredible.

2am feeling angry, frustrated and guilt -RIP Liam For many years, I dedicated myself to supporting artists in the music and entertainment industry. When I established my management company, my primary goal was to make a difference by genuinely supporting people, being there for them at all times, and not treating them like mere money-making machines. It breaks my heart to hear about Liam—someone who loved what he did and pursued a dream that many would envy. It was a boyhood dream come true, but tragically, it spiraled out of control and began to chip away at him. Where was the "real" support he and so many others desperately needed? This industry must hit the brakes and examine how we are treating individuals who had dreams of being the best. I ventured into management to offer a trustworthy and supportive presence, striving to be that one person they could turn to without fear of being exploited or ignored . Liam believed his dreams had materialised. Who wouldn't want to be number one? Yet over time, the relentless pressure became overwhelming, forcing him to hide his struggles. He internalised the pain, thinking it was his fault. In that isolation, he often turned to what he thought was a best friend—the addictions that promised relief. This "friend" helped him cope with a lifestyle that, while initially glamorous, stripped him of any sense of normality. The glitz and glamour morphed into feelings of being trapped, out of control, and constantly judged. Many find themselves in a cycle of dependency on that so-called best friend, who reassures them, “Don’t worry, I can make you feel better.” But what a tragic twist when this friend becomes their greatest adversary. This isn’t just one tragic story; it highlights a chain of systemic failures within our industry. If we consider this from a compassionate angle—if it were your child in Liam's position—wouldn’t you stop to think, “This is too much; we need to intervene for these people”? The harsh truth is that even someone who seemed to have the world at his feet lost sight of the simple joys of life. Normal activities, like walking down the street or reconnecting with estranged family members, became burdensome. The fear of admitting struggles loomed large, as they worried about rejection or losing everything they had worked for. I had to step away from this role because it profoundly affected my own life—though not to the extreme you might be imagining—but because I felt like a small fish in a tank full of sharks. I wanted to make a difference, but I felt powerless. We must advocate for the changes that need to be made. Where are the psychologists and welfare teams who should be present throughout this journey? Where are the financial advisors who are genuinely securing the futures of artists and their families, bringing a sense of normalcy into their chaotic lives? For every mother, father, and guardian in this world, let’s change this narrative. When they hand over their child to this industry, they deserve the assurance that their loved ones will be looked after. #liam
