Serving the communities across the 83rd District has been an absolute honor. However, after the extreme partisan redistricting process pushed by Governor Evers and our activist State Supreme Court majority, I found myself drawn in with another long serving Republican member. After much prayer and consideration with my wife Sidney, I strongly believe I need to do what is best for this state by not forcing a primary. We need all efforts focused on the critical races for President and U.S. Senate while also holding our Republican majorities in the Legislature this Fall. So today I am announcing I will not seek re-election. While I know I have more service yet to give the Great State of Wisconsin, for now I look forward to working together to achieve major victories in November. Let’s get to work! 🇺🇸

Truly shameful by the @WISenateDems. When Sen. Wanggaard makes a difficult decision to not seek reelection and put his family first, this is your move?!? Especially bizarre as Senate Dems joined in a standing ovation on the Senate floor to honor his service…..while blasting him online to score cheap political points. Just disgusting!

What a disgusting choice of words. After Van gave his farewell speech, every democrat gave him a standing ovation. I hope this is just an example of the left hand not knowing what the far left hand is doing and that @SenHesselbein will direct her staff to delete it.

One of the first political speeches I remember seeing was from Rebecca Kleefisch in 2011, shortly after she became Wisconsin’s Lieutenant Governor. At that same time, I had just entered the real world as a new physical therapist during a difficult economic period. Over the next eight years, Rebecca helped lead Wisconsin through a period of economic recovery, job growth, and renewed optimism for our state. What stood out to me most, though, was her resilience, leadership, and willingness to serve even when her opponents were doing everything they could to try to stop her. Over the years she has continued to be an inspiration, and I’m grateful to now call her a friend as I begin my own journey serving our community in public office. Thank you, Rebecca, for the example you have set for so many across Wisconsin!
