The source is one anonymous senior US official. Reuters could not independently verify the report. Axios’s own framing — in the article itself — states: “The intelligence could become a pretext for U.S. military action.” This is the second time this year a US administration has had classified intelligence leaked about a Caribbean adversary “planning attacks” on US targets during a period of US military buildup in the region.
