I change my mind, therefore I am. My principles and views were shaped by context and I hold them very loosely.

@RickCarusoLA Let’s first agree to stop calling them homeless because not having a home isn’t their problem. These are drug addicts and a tool for some forces that are directly tied into the drug market.

Downtown LA is in decline. It’s unconscionable. Here’s one way we can fix it.

The difference between weather conditions contributing to an accident and a vehicle’s speed while an ADAS is engaged contributing to the accident is that the human driver can cause the speed of the vehicle to be dangerous before disengaging the ADAS but the human driver cannot change the weather.

@elonmusk The instability is the biggest hurdle. Between unpredictable reach and a 'For You' feed that feels disconnected from my actual community, the ROI on high-quality content has plummeted. Creators need a reliable feedback loop, not a void. And bigger payouts would be nice too lol

I'm not sure how else to explain that something can contribute without being responsible. If you say "The driver is at fault" suddenly the rest of the conversation is moot? It's like if there was poor weather and the driver got into an accident. The weather CONTRIBUTED to the situation, even though it wasn't the direct cause. You're 100% right, people just want to win the argument rather than be truthful. Being a truth seeker is often uncomfortable. Lot's of tribalism and group-think going on here. People's unwillingness to admit maybe they misunderstood is very telling.

@ChadMoran @ICannot_Enough Sounds like an Elon thing to do. That’s been Tesla’s strategy, I believe. They’re just trying to do it as cautiously as possible (by Elon’s standards). There’s little money to be made from selling personal cars when you have an inevitable autonomous future.

It feels like Tesla is having another "Model 3" moment. Vehicle sales are dropping, they're funneling most of their cash into FSD/AI. I suspect Tesla is going to push FSD into unsupervised as fast as possible and is hoping for the best. It very well may work out but it's going to be a bumpy ride.

@ChadMoran @ICannot_Enough I don’t know. I’m also trying to figure out how the point keeps being missed again and again. Some are more focused on winning an argument than on understanding what’s being said, even though there’s no argument to begin with.

@ChadMoran @ICannot_Enough Side note: given how things are right now, I still don’t see a path from where we are to unsupervised FSD.

You’ll forgive me for having a difference of opinion, Chad, but… … to me, the screenshot below sure looks like you’re assuming FSD 13— rather than the human driver Justine— was responsible for the Cybertruck’s velocity up the exit ramp. I find such an assertion curious because it is the human driver who can override the ADAS and not the other way around. I’ll permit for the sake of argument the possibility that FSD 13 alone could have chosen to drive up the exit ramp at 57 mph, if you will permit for the sake of argument that Justine could’ve been pressing the accelerator pedal with her foot, if she were unaware of the upcoming sharp turn or simply distracted (Distracted Driving kills thousands of motorists per year in the US alone, per NHTSA data, in many cases without the involvement of any ADAS). What gives you confidence that Justine wasn’t overriding FSD 13’s deceleration intent by pressing the accelerator pedal (which would not have disengaged Tesla’s ADAS)? You may believe FSD 13 was speeding because it thought it was on the interstate highway below, but could the crash video not just as easily be explained by the alternative hypothesis outlined above? 🤔

@ChadMoran @ICannot_Enough The fine print clearly says to be attentive. People easily dismiss this fact when arguing. It’s always going to be the driver’s fault even if FSD decides to fly off a cliff

@ICannot_Enough Any crash within 5s from FSD being on Tesla attributes to FSD. But pop off.

Rivian Universal Hands-Free vs Tesla Self-Driving This was my first time testing Rivian's new Universal Hands-Free, and I was honestly surprised by how it performed. I understand this is their first attempt and it will only improve from here, but truthfully, it is worse than any version of FSD or Autopilot I have ever used. I respect Rivian as a company, but I always try to remain unbiased in my opinions, so here are my unfiltered thoughts on where UHF stands today. Hoping to test it more as the system receives major updates! Hope you all enjoy the video. The future will continue to have a market for personal vehicles—a small market, but it will persist. Rivian needs to decide whether it wants to remain in that market or shift to the mass market for ride shares. Neither path is viable without first achieving profitable production.

@NinosMaron False choice. Robotaxi fleets build the scale, data, and capital that make consumer vehicles profitable. This IS the profitable strategy.

Rivian should focus on a 45k profitable car that people want to buy instead
RJ Scaringe@RJScaringe

I’m excited to announce a partnership with @Uber. As part of this, Uber plans to invest up to $1.25 billion in Rivian and deploy up to 50,000 R2 robotaxis. This partnership accelerates our path to Level 4 autonomy and supports our goal of building one of the safest autonomous platforms in the world—across both shared and personally owned vehicles. The combination of Rivian’s rapidly growing data flywheel, our in-house RAP1 inference platform (800 TOPS), and our multi-modal perception stack provides a powerful foundation to scale autonomy quickly and responsibly over the next couple of years.

I love this app They got rid of the 140 characters and expanded it to 280 And when that wasn’t enough they told you you can now write a Facebook post on 𝕏 by paying for a blue check mark And when that wasn’t enough they added an Article feature to allow you write even longer posts And tried to heavily push it But they know you don’t want to read it and your attention span is 12 seconds So they added a feature to summarize the articles for you!

@NinosMaron They have no self-worth outside of the brand., they lack a tribe. It's common and you see it in a lot of places like political parties as well. So they assign themselves a tribe and fight for it.
