I'm having a discussion with someone I called out a lot in the past. I posted about the bias (while ignoring mine) and was extremely critical of their content.
In talking back and forth for a bit via DMs, I've come to realize that deep down a few small political disagreements have created a tribal chasm that feels uncrossable.
We as politically active Canadians are probably far apart on the spectrum, but deep down we both ultimately have the same goal. A successful and prosperous country. A bright future.
Any differences are minor in comparison to the shared goals and values.
Twitter isn't real, but conversations are.
There is a split in the Conservative Party, absolutely. The further right, and Poilievre is trying to court both sides. But, so too is there a split on the left. A lot of the gender issues, views on Iran/Isreal/Palestine etc...
Perhaps both fringes have moved further away. If that's true, maybe that leaves more room in the middle, once we find out what that means.
Appreciate the conversations, reason, and perspective. I am optimistic and hopeful.

I fully support Mark Carney attending this. BUT, Mark Carney has a responsibility to stop telling Canadians to boycott the US. Stop name calling people who support our American neighbours. Stop trash talking in one room and hand kissing in another. We need America as an ally, not an enemy. Stop exploiting the hate of Donald Trump for political popularity and start getting results for Canadians. The President will come and go, America will always be our neighbour.

As much as I dislike Poilievre, I'd never be rooting for him to fail as PM, manufacturing fake shame to mock him over and pull down Canada.
