I'll repeat this again because the misinformation about Carter Hart around this trial is both appalling and slanderous. Lots to hate about the Vegas franchise. But giving a second chance to Carter Hart isn't one of them. The judge in the case didn't just find no guilt, she exonerated the accused, finding as a matter of fact there was no sexual assault, that the sex was consensual. If you're curious to know the facts of the Hart and his Hockey Canada teammates case, here is summary of the 11 key findings of fact in judge Maria Carroccia's ruling: 1. That Carroccia found the complainant, E.M., to be both unreliable and not credible in her testimony about the events of the night in question, June. 18, 2018 in London, Ontario. More than that, Carroccia found that E.M. had given her consent to the sex acts with the men that night. The Hockey Canada Five were always presumed innocent until found guilty under our system, but Carroccia’s finding does more than find them not guilty. It essentially exonerates them, though we will all likely agree that they acted in poor and immature fashion that night and needed to do more to treat E.M. with care. 2. The judge also found that the notion “believe all women” is a political slogan, but goes against fundamental Canadian values that work to ensure that no innocent person is found guilty without a fair trial. 3. That key video evidence from Jack’s Bar where E.M. met Michael McLeod and other Hockey Canada players that night forcefully and completely contradicts what E.M. said about the players initiating overt sexual contact on the dance flooor, and that E.M., in fact, put her hand on McLeod’s crotch area on the dance floor. 4. That key video evidence from the bar that night forcefully and completely contradicts what E.M. claimed about getting plied with drinks from the players. In fact, E.M. bought almost all of her own drinks. 5. That key video evidence contradicts what E.M. claimed about the players trying to separate her from her friends. 6. That key video evidence and E.M’s own testimony contradicts her claim that she was completely out of it that night due to alcohol consumption. 7. That E.M. had reasons to fabricate a false narrative based on numerous factors, including making things right with her own boyfriend. 8. There was repeated and consistent testimony, including from Crown witnesses Tyler Steenbergen and Brett Howden, that E.M. pushed for the players to engage with sex acts with her, and in the end Carroccia accepted this evidence as fact. 9. That there was numerous evidence of E.M.’s testimony been unreliable. 10. That E.M. had several opportunities to get dressed and to leave if she was fearful, but she left the bathroom where her clothes were and walked naked into the room full of players to continue on with their evening. This dynamic started after she had admittedly had consensual sex with McLeod. 11. That the players group chat the following day was not an effort to fabricate a story, but a group decision to simply tell the truth about what had happened with E.M

Final, 4-2 Vegas. The Golden Knights go on the road without Mark Stone and take Game 1 of the Western Conference Final. Carter Hart was excellent. And the Golden Knights depth shined through in a big way. There's a blueprint to beating the Avs. Can the Golden Knights do it three more times?

Before other fans whine about me equating the two players, let me make it clear that I'm not. But for all the talk about Makar being out, I really haven't heard anybody bring up how important Stone being out of the VGK lineup is. It is what it is, I guess. I just find it funny.

@ryanwhitney6 Stop with the "Makar" out. ESPN has said that ad-nauseum. I'd argue Stone is a bigger loss for VGK, or at least no less.

End of the first, 0-0. Carter Hart closes the period with a massive glove save on Nazem Kadri. All things considered, I liked that period from Vegas. Some good pockets. The Avs will have some carry over power play time to start the second period.

We were today in New York, where we had a hearing with the National Hockey League regarding the events following game six. We missed a great opportunity that night to connect with our fans and share with them the victory of playoff series. I've always felt in a playoff series, when you win a series, you galvanize the bond with your fan base. We missed that opportunity by not having John available to do post game. That's on John for failing to do that. That's on me as a general manager of the hockey club. That's not at the feet of our comms people, who made other arrangements with each of you to accommodate tight quarters in and around our dressing room post game. We have no explanation other than to say we were wrong and to assure you that it will not happen again. The league has spoke on the matter. We have spoke on the matter. Neither John or I will be taking any questions on this. Secondly, regarding Bruce Cassidy, teams have asked for permission to speak with Bruce. @TDChrisG This is what I've posted: this is my theory: VGK may be aware that Cassidy wants to/will take some of the VGK coaching staff to his next stop. That would be too much of a distraction at this time.

At this point, I hope the Golden Knights don't allow Cassidy to interview for any team. Or all of this noise is for nothing. Fair, foul, or otherwise, one thing Vegas has been great at is sticking to its guns.

The only logical explanation I can think of with Cassidy is that maybe they want him back coaching their team next season, which would be in their right. Torts is only locked in for the remainder of this season. But even that would be ridiculous.

John Tortorella declined to speak with the media after advancing to the Western Conference finals. The Golden Knights also didn’t open the dressing room after the game. They brought 1 player into a side room to speak, along with the two who spoke at the podium. I’ve been covering the NHL for nine years and never seen either of those happen once.
