Yes, MA and Maine have Patriots' Day. But everyone in RI knows April 25 is worth celebrating as the Perfect Date. #RhodeIsland

@TheStonesEG If the GOP didn’t nominate awful candidates in districts in ME, CT, and NH that Trump carried, they wouldn’t be shut out. That’s a skill issue. (Also “at large” states aren’t gerrymandered 🙄)

@MassJumbo This is also true for the NH seats and around 2 CT seats. Nominating repellant candidates is a choice!

Actually, red states gerrymandering is good/bad and blue states gerrymandering is bad/good is a perfectly logical and defensible position that flows through from principled belief in a set of policy commitments. More people should just admit instead of dancing around it!

This kind of development is really depressing to me. All kinds of weird little colleges in the Northeast are closing. Nobody wants to double major in literature and kombucha-making anymore. Everyone just wants to work for Jane Street or an AI lab.

BREAKING: After years of financial struggles, Hampshire College will close after the 2026 fall semester. I obtained an email sent to the college community this morning that confirms the board of Trustees have voted to permanently close the experimental institution. @WAMCNews

My pet theory is that Dem voters are going to square the anti-semitism vs anti-current-Israeli-leadership circle by electing a Jewish guy who is vocally critical of Israel and Bibi. I’ll get tons of pushback on this right now. But let’s check in a year from now.

PA Governor Josh Shapiro: America should never allow itself to be bullied by Israel @GovernorShapiro: “America should never be led around by any other nation. It should always be about America's interests, our national security interests. We should never, ever be bullied, as maybe President Trump was, by any other world leader.” @Jason: “Why did he do it?” Gov. Shapiro: “First, Rubio went out and said he did it because if we didn't move then, Netanyahu was going to move and it was going to force our hand. Then they walked it back. He said seven or eight months ago that they destroyed their nuclear capabilities, and then came back seven or eight months later and said we had to go in because we had to destroy their nuclear capabilities. Then they said it was about regime change. Well, great. I mean, we went from an 80-something-year-old Ayatollah to a 60-something-year-old Ayatollah, who by all accounts, seems to be far more hardline. I'd hardly call that successful regime change. I don't know how you answer that question because the president never answered that question. He never sat in the Oval Office and looked the American people in the eye and said, ‘This is why we're going in.’ And you know what? This isn't semantics. This isn't politics. If you don't know why you're going in, you don't know how the hell to get out.”

I don’t know why there’s a whole class of young, mostly white, educated people who move somewhere settle down, and then when there are thousands of people just like them trying to do the same they go “oh sorry, no gentrification, you can’t move here”

I think it would be a really great reality tv show to take a couple dozen boomers, ideally recently retired, and give them entry level white-collar jobs in high cost of living cities and basically just saying "Go try to live."

You also don’t walk out of college or university expecting to buy a new 4 bedroom house, two cars, boats, skidoos, etc. The reason you struggle is because you aren’t willing to wait and make do like we did. Your entitlement is causing you to struggle.

We spent the last few hours in midtown and it’s totally changed since NYC’s new ‘mayor’ took office. Like a ghost town but with a dangerous vibe. Twice someone came up behind us in an intimidating way. No cops in sight. Locals are not out and even tourists are thin on the ground as they can’t possibly feel safe. @BrianOSheaSPI
Leeroy Johnson@LeeroyPress

My sources state that there's been a massive spike in crime after the new mayor has taken over city hall . especially the midtown, south area. Sources state some in the mayor's office is trying to dictate how the commissioner runs the police department .

Anti-YIMBY pundits on here love to engage in abstract ivory tower discussions like this. Yet day-to-day advocates know that community planning meetings on housing are not representative of their communities and exclude people who have already been priced out.
