We’re disgusted that some of our squad – who have given everything for the shirt this summer – have been subjected to discriminatory abuse online after tonight’s game. We stand with our players ❤️

@NobleJester @rpd158 @AlexThomp @juliaioffe Republicans created their own media industry, because they couldn't lie to people in traditional Media. Anyone who thinks there's no bias against liberals in corporate media is suffering from a programmed delusion. They trip over themselves to rehabilitate conservatives.

@dick_nixon The truth is, “The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand,” can apply to a lot of areas, Sir.

I think we have lost some people here, and do lose people, because we refuse to stare at our fingertips in the way these people do to make their crust, and seem to enjoy. For better or worse we take the long view here, and if that means letting matters develop, so be it.

@asymmetricinfo That thread is very much not worth reading and it's pretty disgraceful that someone who writes for WaPo would share it approvingly.

This thread is worth reading, the epistemic criss on the right is real, and yes, the mainstream media, by freaking out about Trump and abandoning normal standards, made that epistemic crisis much worse. That said, I have some quibbles ...
Martyr Made@martyrmade

I think I've had discussions w/enough Boomer-tier Trump supporters who believe the 2020 election was fraudulent to extract a general theory about their perspective. It is also the perspective of most of the people at the Capitol on 1/6, and probably even Trump himself. 1/x

@bling0 @rsg I assume you've spent 1000x more time in SF than most of these other cities? Obviously, the more time you spend in a city, the more likely you encounter something that violates your sense of safety Are you adjusting for this when comparing your feeling of safety across cities?

Crime is the primary reason we are leaving SF. My brother was randomly assaulted in the middle of the street, one of our founders was mugged on Market. As of 2021, I avoid walking SF streets when possible, and warn friends to be hyper vigilant when doing so.
Michelle Tandler@michelletandler

Anecdotally, every single one of my friends right now is considering leaving SF (and frankly, myself included). The biggest driver is no longer cost of living. It's crime. My friends are scared for their children, and their husbands are scared for their wives...

So what is the Venn diagram of people who think that you shouldn't feel more unsafe as a result of a double digit increase in the murder rate, and people who say they are scared when they see an American flag on a pickup truck?
