Still need the Isle of Man to talk to the IIHF to put the Worlds back a week so they don't overlap with TT practice week.

Team GB have to be disappointed with that performance, against essentially an ICEHL all-star team without their bigger players. Didn't seem ready, breakout largely struggled to exit the zone, lot to work on. Have to beat Hungary and hope Austria do the same.

@davidharrywebb That's definitely part of it & was evident at times yesterday, but I think they will still be disappointed in their play. Saw Russell's interview before today's game & he said as much, they were unhappy that they didn't compete, lost a lot of battles. Much better today so far.

@LeeMax54 I think that's fair in goal. I do think Steele was a problem defensively, but he's got the potential to be a very good player for Team GB, be interesting to see how his impact develops as the tournament goes on.

@NoelG_71 Considering this was one of the 'easier' games and Robson did ultimately shit the bed, Bowns has to get it when it matters. He's proven himself more than enough. To be fair to Steele he played a very good game considering his age, as did a few of the other young lads.

@adamjamesred Yep, it did feel a bit like they weren't all ready, which was concerning. The hope being it can't happen again and they'll settle into it, but it's not like previous tournaments where the key games are at the end, no time to play into the tournament.

@LeeMax54 Will be interesting to see who gets the Hungary game. The breakout put them on the back foot, too many rough zone exits, could barely get over the blueline at times. And I think Austria were clever with their pressure too (really felt like they targeted Steele a good bit).

@NoelG_71 I think having Bowns in net already makes that a closer game and probably gives them a bit of life, however I was incredibly underwhelmed by our import players. None of them wanted to make a play and I've never seen a GB team so bad at breaking out their own zone

@adamjamesred Yep, shot ourselves in the foot, Austria forechecked well too. I'm wondering too with the netminders rotating through the Italy games, plus the new caps at the back (including Robson), there was maybe the perfect storm for it to be messy.

@NoelG_71 Having had a few hours since the game ended to process that, it was a bitterly disappointing performance. Our D was incredibly gaffe-prone, and turned the puck over countless times which piled pressure on ourselves. That chemistry between the D and Mat Robson just wasn’t there.

@adamjamesred @TeamGBicehockey We've struggled to break out over the blueline quite a lot, and Liam Steele seems to be being targeted on their forecheck quite heavily in that regard. But disappointing in quite a few areas ao far.

Defensively, @TeamGBicehockey are a bit of a shambles today. That fifth Austria goal was atrocious. We’ve just let the Austrian winger turn back from the point and let him get the puck to the net without challenge. Be better.
