The lady on #liveline just now belongs to 'Education Equality'. They don't want denominational education in any publicly-funded primary schools irrespective of the wishes of parents. Tolerant? Nope. @rteliveline

@CathalC67 @DavQuinn @rteliveline Give it a rest. You know exactly that you are misleading in your summations
English

@DavQuinn @rteliveline Is this the same woman who was on Newstalk Breakfast this morning, the newstalk presenter declared "just under half on parents want non denominational schools so over 200,000 parents" what he didn't note was that only 40% of households participated which would have been 16%, 78k
English

@madsenobrien71 @DavQuinn @headwreckno1 @rteliveline The survey results that were released were the views of those in denominational schools. They haven't released the rest of the findings for some reason. See @simonmlewis

@DavQuinn @headwreckno1 @rteliveline This statement appears to be (deliberately?) misleading!
My understanding is that the survey was NOT of all parents , but limited to parents whose kids are already attending denominational schools!
Correct me if wrong!
English

@DavQuinn @headwreckno1 @rteliveline They didn't and you know full well that the dept only released one set of figures.
English

@headwreckno1 @rteliveline And yet 60pc of parents surveyed by the Dept of Ed want to keep denominational schools. Why?

@gavpepper85 Nobody can stop you from making communion, you just do the prep and turn up at any mass...... it's simple.

As long as teachers continue to volunteer for extra-curricular e.g. drama, sport, music (let’s face it, more often than not, these activities are often dumped on non permanent, newer teachers scrabbling for CID/permanency) then teachers will never be taken seriously. #edchatie

"49% of teachers are involved in volunteerism outside of timetabled hours - sports, drama, music etc. Of these, 34% spend 2 - 4 hours on such activities while 18% spend over 4 hours per week." The volunteerism should stop but that’s never going to happen. independent.ie/irish-news/edu…

Letter in today’s @IrishTimes re: scheduling Leaving Cert oral exams on a Sunday during Easter.
Ciarán claims there was “no debate, no discussion, no apparent opposition from teachers or parents.”
MFL teachers opposed this but were ignored by the Dept of Ed & the SEC. #edchatie

@Drip2themoon @raizingboyz @NiDhubhda Not if they're not examining. Many feel obliged to be present to support their students. No pay for that.

@raizingboyz @NiDhubhda The oral exams they get extra pay for? Oh wow how noble of them 🙄

““I would struggle with finding an organisation ... that is less child-centred than the NCSE,” one school principal said on RTÉ radio. “It’s dressed up as inclusion, but this is as far removed from inclusion as you can imagine.”” #edchatie

@MaryERegan Snas are not teachers. Are you confusing it with special education teachers? The allocation for special education teachers / hours hasn't yet been released.
English

@eric_nelligan Some medical courses reserve 75% of places for foreigners actually. Worse than the 50% you mention
