For those that doubt. Denmark has made enormous strides in weaning itself off fossil fuel dependency. A population similar to ours, they harnessed wind/sun and developed biomethane to replace fossil gas. Let’s use science, engineering economics and environment, not ideology!!!
Chris Meder@EVCurveFuturist

Denmark didn’t just “phase out” coal. It made it obsolete. Coal: 85% → 3% Wind: 11% → 60% Solar: 0% → 13% Renewables: 15% → 92% Wind scaled first. Biomass stabilised. Solar is now accelerating the endgame. Transitions evolve. Systems get replaced. #Bettrification #RIPCOAL

@DavQuinn @rteliveline Is this the same woman who was on Newstalk Breakfast this morning, the newstalk presenter declared "just under half on parents want non denominational schools so over 200,000 parents" what he didn't note was that only 40% of households participated which would have been 16%, 78k

The lady on #liveline just now belongs to 'Education Equality'. They don't want denominational education in any publicly-funded primary schools irrespective of the wishes of parents. Tolerant? Nope. @rteliveline

@DavQuinn 40% of 40% (who responded) = 16% of overall electorate voted for a change. The 60% of the electorate who didn't vote are obviously happy with the current system in place otherwise they would have taken the opportunity to make their opinions felt.

Another version of this headline would read: 'Big majority of parents want schools to remain Catholic'. (See what a change of emphasis can do to perceptions?)

@griptmedia open.spotify.com/episode/42VgSY… Also govt are driving up the price of houses/apartments competing with 1st time buyers, in turn sending them to Australia and leaving tax payers on the hook for the most expensive social houses in the world.

@danobrien20 @XEnergyIreland The Corrib south and Inishkea need to be explored, energy security needs to be a priority, we cannot rely on the British Gas lines, they can turn us off if a major crisis develops.

@Independent_ie @higginsdavidw Solar is part of the solution but not the answer, we need a carefully managed energy mix, we cannot rely on the gas interconnector from the UK for our energy security, we need to to open up the Corrib south and Inishkea gas fields the infrastructure is already there.

@Mark_J_Henry These figures are skewed and include a lot of sheltered employees, we have an extremely large charity and NGO sector, if half of the 280k charity employees were made redundant we would have unemployment rates of 10% lawsociety.ie/gazette/top-st….

The number of people in employment in Ireland has hit a record high of 2.83 million. Astonishingly, that figure has doubled in less than 30 years. The country is a much better place now than it was in the 1990s. 🇮🇪👍 cso.ie/en/releasesand…

@TomClonan By govt threatening cuts, it is enough to provide doubt for some working as SNA's that any security they felt they had in their role is not actually there. Some may then step away from their roles and others will be put off starting positions. The govt know what they are at here

@griptmedia The residents committee have been exemplary in dealing with the bully tactics of the IPAS owners, the worry is they still own the house and lands and what will they do with it next, the state could take ownership and give it back to the community. €7.5 million already paid.
