Even Air Force safety restrictions on the site are magically cleared. • Then the Emergency is declared in 1975. • Businessmen are arrested under harsh security laws and kept in jail until they “invest” by buying shares in his company. • Car dealers are threatened with their shops being bulldozed unless they cough up money for shares. • A foreign national close to the family is quietly made director in the side companies, bypassing all foreign exchange rules. • The firm barely produces a handful of cars in years. Every prototype fails critical road and safety tests spectacularly. • After the ruling family loses power, an official judicial inquiry rips it apart: total abuse of state machinery, extortion and cronyism ordered from the very top. • The young promoter dies in a plane crash soon after. • The same family returns to power. • The bankrupt company is nationalised with taxpayer money. • It is later revived in partnership with a Japanese giant and becomes India’s biggest car success story.
