Contempt laws give Indian Judges a blank cheque to speak any sort of rubbish & get away with it without any fear at all. Contempt laws belong in the stone age. Who will judge the judges? This post has made me uncomfortable. Uncomfortable enough to save it in drafts (revisit rethink )for 2 days before I tweet about it. I made the mistake of commenting on the tweet asking if the author asked permission of this girl before sharing the video. In the span of 10 mins a slew of ‘not nice’ comments followed on my question, most of the opinion that since the dance was in a public space, it’s ok for it to be recorded & shared on SM. Which were also unsettling to say the least. I deleted my comment. But parents of school college going children should be concerned about this issue because it could happen to anyone of us. While it’s a free country & he is within his rights to have an opinion on anything under the sun, I don’t know if it’s legal to post videos without taking consent of those performing.. & then calling their style of dancing using a derogatory term. It’s time school & colleges have strict policies against unauthorized recording and sharing of events. While the gentleman here will go about doing other things in life this video will be here, it will be shared causing damage to the girl. If the gentleman has issues with the degradation of “culture” in college annuals or programs he could have taken it up privately with the college. What’s the point of sharing the video?
