There is still significant backlash to the abortion up to birth amendment
It should be shut down at Third Reading!
Right To Life UK@RightToLifeUK
BREAKING: Peers have tabled a Regret Motion at Third Reading of the Crime & Policing Bill in the House of Lords today. Baroness O’Loan will speak to the motion, which expresses regret at the self-induced abortion up to birth clause passing without an impact assessment. 🧵1/

My mum has cancer. She had her PIP assessment by phone because attending in person posed a serious infection risk.
Would you force her into an assessment centre anyway?
Remote assessments aren’t a loophole - they’re a lifeline.
Disabled people aren’t a budget line to be cut.
You really have no clue @Helen_Whately

Reason 9969 why it isn’t a good idea to introduce assisted dying/suicide in the UK:

@NorthantsD @dignityindying I remember that.
A Labour whip, objected to having the bill read the same day as the AS Bill.
Disgraceful.
English

@dignityindying The facts show when govt had a chance to support children's hospice funding at the same time as the sssusted suicide vill they chose to ignore that bill that shows action speak louder than words! #AssistUsToLive
English

Layla Moran MP - Chair of the Health and Social Care Select Committee - says the assisted dying Bill hasn’t distracted from palliative care - it’s pushed it up the agenda.
She argues it has sparked national conversations that are finally driving action - and that this moment must be seized upon.

@dignityindying It isn't a battle until you recognise it isnot a one isdye has implications for all disabled people, underfunding of so isl care, hospice etc f of lufe funding abd the whole societal view of death abd dying unless all us addressed no law change in idliatokn is safe ethical/fair
English

“If I knew that I had that safety net where I could say, ‘that's enough’, it would be such a relief. And I'm not going to have it, because it's all running out of time.”
Gilly, who has terminal kidney cancer, protested outside Parliament on Friday against the Lords blocking the assisted dying Bill.

English

@existentialgoof @historykev Those examples don't fundamebtakky chabfe our relationship with medics avd dies not involve the state your so called choice undermines that abd aldo undermines hospice support avdvdevekoping ebd if services as resources are prioritised to assisted suicide not assist to live
English

People should be allowed to have their own standards, even if that causes offence to others. Just because I can only afford a mortgage for a small house, doesn't mean that other people shouldn't be allowed to have larger ones in case it causes me resentment. Likewise, just because many disabled people want to live, that doesn't mean that those who would prefer to die shouldn't get a choice in case that choice makes someone who wants to live feel resentful, or "devalued".
English

We understand very well what you are saying. You would rather be dead than disabled. What we don't understand is why we'd respect your demand for #assistedsuicide because of your fear when it would endanger disabled people whose lives are already devalued.
English

@dignityindying A dangerous unsafe bill isnt the law UK need you can't lie to people saying uts safe, coercion is a natural factor until coercion is addressed no bill should be introduced until dageyy and no suggestion of coercion exists
English

@historykev Absolutely when you hear she was introducing a completely dufferebt non controversial vill but was "persuaded' by did etc'
English

The correct 'recriminations' for the failure of #assistedsuicide would also point out that Leadbeater, despite last minute cramming, was unprepared for such a complex and ethically difficult discussion. theguardian.com/society/2026/m…

This research shows that every 3 minutes someone dies with suffering that could be alleviated but isn't. That's 170,000 people a year.
Why is the Gov prioritising assisted suicide rather than fast diagnosis, effective treatments, pain relief & 24/7 end of life care in all areas?
Prof Katherine Sleeman@kesleeman
Thank you @ShaunLintern for covering our new research. 🚨1 in 3 people in England and Wales die with unmet palliative care needs. 🚨That’s 170,000 people each year. 🚨Meaning that every three minutes someone dies with suffering that could and should be alleviated, but is not.
