BUT the Boards of Education had budgets to pay for classroom supplies until the Ford gov't cut their budgets by over $6.2 billion dollars. This is not a gift from the PC party. This is a flim flam con job for political points. Paul and Doug really need to learn ethics and honesty

@dremontiel @CP24 Not at all. The point is that you are directing your criticism to the wrong place when Ford takes federal transfers and spends them on private off-shore companies. He was given $4 billion from the feds to keep schools open during Covid. He kept them closed and pocked the $.

The Ford government says supply cards will end teachers paying out of pocket for classroom supplies. But as #OSSTF President @marthahradowy told CTV News, the announcement is really an admission that classrooms are underfunded. “It’s like handing a firefighter a cheque and telling them to buy a hose before they show up to put out a fire.” The real solution is properly funding schools so the resources students need are already there. @TinaYazdani He invited you into his office to go line-by-line through the past budgets. You should do it…and take an accountant and economist with you. Cameras on.

#NEW: the Ford government will be giving every teacher in Ontario a $750 card to buy classroom supplies starting this fall. It can be used to purchase arts & crafts materials, stationary products, posters & decor, paper towels & tissues.

@TDotResident He sounds like someone who knows he’s spewing pure bs. @TinaYazdani should sit down with him and go “line by line” through the budgets. She should bring an economist with her from the private sector. Then report on it.

Education Minister Paul Calandra on trustees: “Almost 40% of the population, the student population, the student population the province of Ontario is under the control of the Ministry of Education right now through supervisors across the province.” “I think my main job as a minister of education is to talk to students, to talk to parents and to talk to teachers, to talk to educators.”

@tailbouncer @ColinDMello You clearly don’t know many teachers. They have no say in the policy decisions made by the Ministry of Education or school board admin. Unions have no power as boards just lawyer up against them. The unions aren’t the enemy. They are mostly impotent. Ford removed their power.

That should scare every single union dues paying public education employee. He’s about to remove all Trustees. Parents are standing up to the stuff that has been pushed into our schools under the guise that the rights of the child supersede the rights of the parents, as if being a teacher makes you an expert on child rearing. Our kids were used as lab rats for whole word, inclusion for inclusion sake, restorative justice and teachers are being given immunity from liability for passing on kids who can’t read. Your unions did not support the few teachers who have stood up and said NO to the lies being told to our children. That should scare you even more. Your own union has been instrumental in tarnishing the respect you are about to demand, respect you will need when you trigger labour actions. Parents are not the same after CoVid either. The lack of support is real. Ford has the cards that you dealt to him making parents ancillary and expecting us to pucker up.

@MacLeodLisa He's not attacking her. He's highlighting her lack of qualifications. And you of all people should know how terribly an unqualified person can bungle up an important job, because you were embarrassingly unqualified for your position in government and destroyed so many lives
