Just wrong. He DOES develop young players (Ant, Jaden, Naz, NAW all ELITE development stories. TSJ and Bones both got better. Will see on Clark/Beringer/Rocco). He DOES impose himself on the team. Stories of his fiery film sessions are legion. He has flaws. But let's be honest.

@JonKrawczynski We won't get anywhere as long as he's our HC... He's a good coach but has obvious managerial limitations, he doesn't develop young players (only when forced to) and he doesn't impose himself on the team. Bad news.

@NorwinSJason @JonKrawczynski This isn’t the gotcha you think it is, he’s a POA defender, you sound like you don’t understand his role on the team more than you sound smart lmao

@Libeloussword23 @JonKrawczynski He has me beat? How so? He has his opinion and I have mine. He obviously is higher on Chris Finch than I am. I hope he is right and Finch leads us to a championship. (Not likely)

@NorwinSJason @JonKrawczynski Have you noticed that Jon’s posts on this thread have WAY more upvotes than yours do? And everyone is seeing both sets of comments. Far more people agree with him than with you on this topic. Know when you’re beat.

Time Connelly on Joan Beringer’s season We couldn’t be more excited about him. Relative to where he was even watching him progress last year in Slovenia, or two years ago, I guess, now, being so new the game, he’s a sponge, and he’s a workaholic, and he has physical tools you can’t teach, and he has instincts that are instinctual. So we think his future is unbelievably bright. I would think he’ll be a multiposition defender. He’s a guy that has the complete faith and buy-in of not just our coaching staff, but most importantly, the other players on the team believe in him. So we think he’s going to be a really impactful piece moving forward.

@mnsota91 @JonKrawczynski My point was that he doesn’t have an ELITE development resume like Jon mentioned. The five star part was just a reminder of how talented they are.

@NorwinSJason @JonKrawczynski That’s all high school stats dawg this is dumb. Tyus jones was the best player in the nation does that equate to being the best player in the nba? Not even close. Finch has his flaws and development can get better but this argument is dumb.

@NorwinSJason @JonKrawczynski You do remember watching Jaden have 30 and 10 to close out nikola fucking Jokic right That is the definition of developing, the guy averaged 6-3 as a rookie

@JonKrawczynski But recently he has struggled with that. And he himself has admitted it. Jaden and Naz have not developed much in the last few years. They have tons of talent. Jaden only averages 4 rebounds and 2 assists and Naz is STILL a 6th man.

@NorwinSJason As I said he has flaws. And I've written about them. Namely, the offense he runs does not have enough simplicity and structure for what his team needs. Where I defend him is the absurd idea that he doesn't develop young players when he has done it with the entire core.

@JonKrawczynski I am. Our beat writers in this town would much rather be their Friend than criticize them. He admitted that he played TJ wrong and DNP a guy that was a huge part of the playoff rotation. Not sure the need for you to rush to his defense for such a small comment.

@NorwinSJason I think a couple people have asked throughout the season, I’d be suprised if he doesn’t focus on that this offseason. He knows it’s an issue

Terrence Shannon Jr on learning to play off ball “I feel like I can be better off the ball… it was obviously different coming from college but I just got to find a way to adjust and do what I can to help the team win. Being on the ball wasn’t really my role for this team so just playing off the ball, knowing when to cut, knowing when to set off ball screens is something I got to get better at”

This is what I can’t stand about these old school coaches! You’re in a winnable playoff series and you’ve lost your franchise player to injury and a key rotational player as well but you’ve pick now to send a message to your 2nd best athlete on the team? Ok he missed an assignment sit him down a few minutes explain what he did wrong and put him right back on the floor? By benching him in a playoff series you destroy his confidence! He’s still developing give the kid a break! Terrible!!!
Dane Moore@DaneMooreNBA

Chris Finch said after Game 5 that Terrence Shannon Jr.'s minutes were limited in Game 5 due to gameplan mistakes. Finch was asked at practice today how he goes about helping Shannon clean that up. "I don't clean that up. He cleans it up. It starts with gotta be ready, he's gotta be engaged, he's gotta be fully committed to that side of the ball... The only way I can clean him up is to sit him on the bench, right? That's the only way I can clean it up. He knows what we need from him right now. So he's gotta be ready, and he's gotta be ready to execute defensively. There's no reason that he shouldn't be a good defender with his body type, with his athleticism, and he's a pretty smart player."

@Spacechimp84 @jrborman13 @AROD Very strongly disagree. I just don’t think Jaden has the mindset to be a consistent scorer and playmaker. He is who he is as this point.

@JonKrawczynski @Richhkiddzy1 @allthingsmn And yes, lots of teams would add them if they were available. Same can be said for lots of good young role players in the league, but they’re definitely not established enough to start making demands. lol

@JonKrawczynski @Richhkiddzy1 @allthingsmn Let’s see what when can get for both then. Ant needs a 2nd star with him and someone he can depend on. Teams would be sprinting to get him? lol. What is the best player we would get in return?

This is what happens when you build something super methodically and don’t rush it. OKC stacked assets that fit seamlessly including a couple home run trades and draft picks and got a HC that exhibits patience and leans into youth while getting guys in spots they can maximize their strengths. The Wolves elected to expedite their build and add older players to an inexperienced and immature roster. Instead of hoarding assets and equipping themselves with premium flexibility for Ant’s prime years, they dumped their assets to win right away. It was a bet that got them one of their 2 best seasons in franchise history and 2 WCF appearances — which, given the history of this organization, feels like a huge win. But it wasn’t without massive future risk. Now, the Wolves are very clearly at a difficult crossroads. They have a roster divided between eras with an aging Gobert and Julius Randle (who probably don’t have much value on the trade market) and 3 guys entering their primes in Ant/Jaden/Naz that don’t possess adequate star power to go toe-to-toe with OKC/SAS/BOS/DEN/DET without some serious help. Because of Connelly’s shortage of draft assets from the Rudy and Rob trades, extra pressure is placed on every remaining pick he has to use to supplement the roster. And to this point, he’s just flat-out not done a good enough job with this and the staff hasn’t done a good enough job developing them. So much of this team’s future viability rides on major leaps from Ant/Jaden/Naz and Joan Beringer hitting his immensely high ceiling as quickly as he can. Barring a miracle trade or 2 involving some combination of Randle/Naz/Rudy, this team’s future outlook is murky. It’s interesting to think back to the Rudy trade and wonder what the alternative, OKC approach might’ve looked like…how bullish would we be about the Wolves’ future with a core Ant/Jaden/KAT/Naz/Kessler and all of their picks? What if the Wolves had stayed patient and ended up with the 10th pick in that 2023 draft and taken Cason Wallace? What if they had used those picks to make other trades for younger core pieces? I’ve had more fun watching this team throughout the past 3 years than I’ve had since the KG prime, but I do wonder about the other path and whether patience would’ve ultimately produced a more synergistic team with more long-term championship upside.
Aaron (Wolves Back)@Perrywinkle1267

The gap between the Wolves and OKC has never been larger. Look at their defensive rotations, their off ball presence/awareness. Look at how SGA fights tooth and nail around screens. Look at how everyone is constantly sprinting with purpose.

@JonKrawczynski @allthingsmn Why are Jaden and Naz so overrated? People act like they’re all stars. They have attitude like they are but the fact is they’re role players. Jaden is a perimeter defender and Naz is a 6th man.

@allthingsmn If they didn’t do the Rudy trade and went forward with that core, are you sure Ant and Jaden and Naz want to stay?
