Not Done Yett

Two years ago I almost died from a ruptured appendix and sepsis. 14 surgeries later I’m still here. Before that I was extremely skeptical of religion. Now I’m reading the Bible every day and trying to understand it for myself. God’s not done with me yet.

In the mood to share one of the “funnier” hospital memories I have. Morphine does some weird things to your brain. I remember watching football in my ICU bed and seeing Joe Flacco on the Browns… I was so confused 😂 (he got traded while I was intubated) I watched the whole game thinking it was live… it was actually a rerun from days earlier. For a bit I couldn’t even remember how football worked. My brain was just searching for something normal. Anyone else have “funny” memories from a hospital stay or recovery?

@NotDoneYett_ @OpenlySober Started in Jan 1980 and i have worked the 12 steps , and 12 traditions. been a sponsor , total involvement. Family back, kids are grown up. retired Life is great , 1 step at a time.

@KeruboSk I remembered one night around 11pm I had an essay due at midnight… never wrote 5 pages of completely average work so fast in my life 😂

Millennials are the elite generation because they cranked out 12-page essays the night before they were due. No ChatGPT. No Claude. Just lo-fi beats playing in the background, Black coffee at midnight, footnotes that were somehow correct, and pure delusion. Grade was an A minus. Period.

@GigaBasedDad I was raised Catholic. Now I go to a non-denominational church and I’m just focused on following Jesus and reading the Bible for myself.

@AdamLaneSmith I’ve learned the hard way you can’t change people. You just have to give it to God and let Him work.

Some people want to be unhappy. Trying to change them will make you unhappy.

@D_Preacher_1 I don’t see doubt as a sin. It’s what led me to understand the Truth for myself.

Religion says doubt is a sin. Science says doubt is the beginning of knowledge. which one actually discovers truth?

@BearGrylls Absolutely. My doubt is what lead me back to Him. And a lot of prayer from my wife.

I’ve learned that doubt isn’t the opposite of faith. It’s a part of it. It’s the questions that lead to a deeper understanding. It’s the wrestling that makes your belief your own.

The goal of the Gospel is not to affirm you, celebrate you, or empower you to do whatever you want. The goal of the Gospel is to rescue you, transform you, and empower you to do whatever God says.

@RealJasonNelson I get what you’re saying. I’ve been pushed away by that before. I’d rather meet people where they’re at instead.

I don’t let non-Christians tell me “what Christians are supposed to act like.”

@forestfrank I’m still figuring my faith out. For me, it’s trusting His plan. I spent too long trying to do everything on my own… not anymore.

@medus4_cdc There is something very unsettling about computers taking over creativity instead of labor.

I have mixed feelings about AI- but my main issue with it is that the robots should be washing our dishes, not doing our hobbies.
