@threepointone Maybe taken from Microsoft where .dll (dynamic link library) files are packages that can be used to extend app functionality, similar to what we achieve with js libs. I wouldn't call cpan, pypi and npm libraries though, imo they're appropriately named "package managers".

I don’t understand why we call javascript packages “libraries”. Like, that seems more appropriate to describe npm itself (or cpan, or pypi etc) Does anyone know the origin of using that word to describe packages?
