Dear @ucu There is something unsettling here. But it’s not the EHRC Code of Practice. It’s the bizarre lengths to which @UCU will go to avoid acknowledging the sex-based labour rights of women – and the total betrayal this entails of the workers, over generations and continents, through whose struggle and enormous personal sacrifice legal rules protecting women and girls against discrimination at work were established. Contrary to such rules, in recent years, female workers in Britain have been denied their human rights to dignity, privacy, equality and labour representation because of profoundly misguided approaches to trans-inclusion promoted and adopted, amongst others, by trade unions. The Supreme Court decision in For Women Scotland merely clarified what was always the law: ‘women’ for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010 is a sex-based class. The EHRC revised Code reflects this. ILO minimum standards – binding on the UK and globally – likewise demand it. What @UCU must now do ‘urgently’ is accept this, clean house, and consider how it can best make amends to the female workforce whose interests and representation it has so shamefully abandoned.

This is a significant and unsettling moment and we will not leave branches to navigate it alone. Employers' duties under equality and employment law remain in force; this does not change that. We've written to @UniversitiesUK: universities and colleges are responsible for protecting staff and students, not putting them at risk through rushed or inconsistent decisions. UCU will organise, defend, and fight for the rights of trans and non-binary people.

Honest question: Why would a gentleman want bigger balls? I mean, metaphorically, yes. You should all be metaphorically "ballmaxxing," but that requires no injections. Wouldn't you sit on them? As a psychiatrist I see this regularly - patients with ME/CFS, Long COVID and hEDS who have real trauma from being dismissed and disbelieved by doctors for years. Their pain is genuine. I do have a problem though with the term 'clinician-associated traumatization' (here iatrogenic/Medical PTSD). It feels like it is making clinicians as 'the enemy'. A big part of the problem is the honest uncertainty these conditions create as they often lack clear biomarkers and are difficult to diagnose. We need more empathy and better training on both sides instead of blame.

Is this the most awkward, cringey photo ever taken of Meghan Markle? Do you feel second-hand embarrassment every time you see it? At this polo trophy presentation, the guys are literally holding the massive cup over her head because she wedged herself right in the middle of the team photo. The players are all in matching team gear, she’s in the oversized hat and sunglasses doing the full pose, and they’ve got no choice but to raise the trophy and pretend she’s not there. Why does Meghan have a pathological need to insert herself into every frame where she clearly doesn’t belong? It’s like she can’t let Harry have a moment with his polo mates without making it about her. Painful to watch.

This makes no sense. It makes no damn logical sense. A man in a dress is not a woman. They have done nothing to help women do anything. In fact, they have somehow turned us into an idea. A virus that can be caught because they willed it into existence. There is no such thing as transphobia. It is all made up bullshit brought about by a bunch of men on a power trip. Democratic women shouldn't be praised for instigating and prolonging this nonsense. They should be shamed.
