@RickRouth Place closest does $3/lb, little off if you buy more. So that was a max $60 block. Less than the price of the one small billet I needed, bought online, before shipping! There’s a place a few hours away that will go down to $1/lb depending on their mood that day!

Big metal doesn’t want you to know this. But you can just buy big leftover chunks of aluminum at the metal yard and custom cut your own billets on a wood bandsaw with a carbide toothed blade. 4”x3”x17” yielded the 1.5”x3”x10” I needed for way cheaper than ordering it!

I haven’t had A/C in my car for two years It’s 95 degrees and I have the rocket in my car I got really cold all the sudden and believed this was the end of the road for me until I realized my car A/C was working I can’t tell if I’m dead or if this really happened

@RealAvid please sell just the smaller punches solo so I don’t have to buy whole sets just to replace the 1/16” punch when I inevitably broke the one from both sets I have. @p80ralph Had it in snowboard boots. Lasted the better part of a decade before it finally snapped. Only system the truly kept my heels down and didn’t have to be so tight they hurt after a while. Loved it. Would buy again if I wasn’t old and afraid I’d hurt myself riding.

@ArmedJ0y In addition to speeds adjustments, drills like to bite into what it cuts and you're not going to get cutting oil to the cutting edge after initial engagement. Push it kinda hard, retract every few seconds, add a tiny bit of oil to the tip every retract. Slow will burn your bit.

Update: it do be working, but even with cutting fluid and going slow this bar stock is getting stupid hot. Not sure if there is a better RPM for this, I made sure it was even possible at 750, jumped it up to 1500 and I've gotten about 3mm in before it got way too hot.

Okay, I got the drill press, but I'm kinda stuck on an issue. 1. Fucking metric, so I gotta wait for 3.5mm bits to show up. 2. The length of bit required to drill through all of it is minimum 110mm. But I dont see how I get the clearance to get the bit on there to do this. If I put it on the platform, it's way too close. If I put it on the base mounts, still looks to be too close. Not helped by this press only appearing to have 50ish mms of travel.

Having a laser isn't only for doing engraving Not something I do a lot of, because your have to be very careful with it, but it is very good for rust removal as well
