@JLas43_ My brain always goes to that 05-06 team like the one you mention that also had early Tex and then evolved into the 2 10-11 team that went to consecutive WS.

When I think Texas Rangers I think of those teams that had Michael Young, Hank Blalock, Ian Kinsler, Rod Barajas, David Dellucci and Kevin Mench lol those fucking guys raked

@buanadha @DonnieCollinsTT Yep, I don't even think it's a given that NYY brings him up if McMahon can turn things around to be an average bat against RHP but the GLJ contingency for this year is most likely to bring him up for 3B so, get him all the reps there. Can easily go back to SS again in the future.

@Nottelling365 @DonnieCollinsTT going to be a really interesting year. McMahon's been hitting a bit also, so that may weigh into things as well, Cabby really hits a bit like a platoon player (career about 120 OPS pts better vs. lefties) And Lombard will need to hit in AAA before he gets to MLB

Yanks have to focus - and seem to be - more on finding a role for Volpe than executing a plan for him. The plan is done. Volpe and GLJ are on the same roster now. Playing Volpe exclusively at SS with SWB makes no sense. It's time to make him a utility man. It's what he is.
Gary Phillips@GaryHPhillips

Regarding Anthony Volpe: it was interesting that Aaron Boone left the door open to him possibly playing other positions a day after throwing cold water on the idea, and that Aaron Judge even quickly mentioned the possibility of Volpe as a utility guy. Wrote here why some versatility couldn't hurt Volpe or the #Yankees: nydailynews.com/2026/05/05/yan…

@buanadha @DonnieCollinsTT Yes, to all of the above which also points to the idea that, if the moves being made now are for this year's MLB roster to succeed, Volpe only plays SS in AAA and GLJ most likely needs to play exclusively 3B to be ready there if and when they call him up.

@DonnieCollinsTT a few things are still in play for Volpe 1. Cabby is likely to hit his way out of the job. His contact isn't good and he's going to regress 2. Will they bring up Lombard for SS in a pennant race? 3. Is 3B where they need GLJ most? IMO Volpe starting at SS by midseason

The DTCC stuff is really the only thing that needs to happen to create an astonishing valuation for $LINK. You really can't fathom the amount of money they move.
LinkTOAD General HBARI@ARiHBARi

🚨BREAKING $LINK NEWS: I FOUND @THE_DTCC UTILIZING @CHAINLINK RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT ON GITHUB🚨 HERE'S HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS: 1. DTCC system triggers event (e.g., trade settles) 2. CRE workflow runs: -pulls NAV / price data -verifies compliance rules -checks identity / permissions 3. Executes: -on-chain transfer -off-chain accounting update 4. All nodes agree on result (consensus) 5. Output is: -provable -auditable -tamper-resistant

The story on the surface is Volpe’s demotion but the bigger (and more important) storyline for me is: what is the Yankees left side of the infield in October? Does Lombard play a role in that equation? Still a lot to figure out in the Yankees infield. Curious how it plays out.
New York Yankees@Yankees

Following today’s game, the Yankees returned INF Anthony Volpe from his rehab assignment, reinstated him from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

@SportyBusDriver @GreenfieldMax18 My mistake, you are correct, thought it was a 4Y contract originally not 3Y. Yeah, so, malpractice if both are not moved. Couldn’t imagine what they are thinking otherwise other than “we’re not moving them RIGHT NOW” as opposed to we will come July.

@rachcorrine Timberlands is kinda crazy work from Hugh there but somehow it works. I don’t know how, I couldn’t pull it off but he rocks them like they’re loafers with that outfit. To use the kids’ vernacular, he clearly has “aura.”

@buanadha @papa_gardner11 Feels like something they wouldn’t do in the past but with the more aggressive roster management this year maybe they will? Seems to be a lot to benefit from riding the hot hand in Cabby and letting Volpe get healthy (and maybe some legit development time?) in AAA. Win-win.

@papa_gardner11 exactly,. although I can see if the Yankees let Cabby start until he starts to hit that regression

Even if you conveniently ignore that his batted ball data suggests regression is coming, Caballero is much more useful to this team as a backup utility player than Volpe is. The team is better with Volpe at SS and Caballero as an elite bench player than vice versa.
Bobby Milone@BobbyMilone29

Klap "The best place for that to happen is at Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where the Yankees’ Triple-A team plays. It’s 127 miles away from the booing. It’s where Volpe fits for now, just as Caballero belongs at shortstop at 161st Street and River Avenue. He’s earned it."

@homegymcoop Knew they would do something like this when they released the new Lat Pull/Low Row with the 2-1 pulley in the middle, super smart. Want them to make it so you can have a Rhino in the middle too with a collapsible rack in front of that belt squat; that’s the ultimate all-in-one.

@WellBuiltStyle Sock recs, please? When to go no show, when to wear matching to trousers, when can you explore a little. Rick Hudson looks to be matching his sock color to his loafers but I always understood you match the pants.

@WellBuiltStyle I might add that you could have a Dark Wash with contrast stitch for the more rugged/workwear look and maybe a feel wash with monochromatic stitching for the most formal of denim looks.

@homegymcoop Looking forward to the Freak Athlete Apex Review. Would love to grab a Hyper Pro but if I’m gonna get a posterior chain machine, feels like it needs to have a legitimate Reverse Hyper. Hoping the Apex has quality functionality for the Reverse Hyper.

60–80% of people will deal with lower back pain at some point in their lives. A Reverse Hyper: – decompresses the spine – builds the posterior chain – drives blood to the low back The foldable Scout Hyper makes the most sense for home gyms, but here are some other variations.

@buanadha @ejk666249656 Feel like it’s really just a matter of reworking the lineup a bit to adjust for the players yielding better results. Can’t we move him down to like 6th in the order while he works past the bad luck? Get Rice Leadoff and Judge 2nd? I think he comes out of it too, though.

@YankeeSource Met Scott Proctor at the day camp I went to during the 2006 season, seemed like a really good guy and couldn’t have been happier he was in the midst of that one really excellent season. They did kind of do him dirty through overuse though.

@YankeeSource @YankeeLibrarian Is it that unreasonable to lower him in the lineup until the results start to mind c the expected stats? Seems like he would benefit from batting like 6th to actually start to benefit from his good swing decisions and batted ball metrics.

@CMacWFAN Too true. The metrics all say he is still doing just as much as he did last year but the results aren’t there as of now. Why can’t we move him down in the order until the results start catch up with the expected? Feels obvious to get Rice and Judge the most ABs too.

@adamcraig1568 @JonFromMaspeth @MissYankee Feel like the calculus on trade assets with lots of control that are exclusively BP pieces usually leans in favor of trading (especially when the player is older relative to the rest of the upstart roster) but it could be O’Brien is an asset the Cards don’t want to move. TBD.

@ChrisCoop_ Future upside of a Miguel Andujar, maybe? He seems to have carved out a nice career for himself as a professional RHH despite the really bad defensive profile (everywhere he played).

As scorching and I mean SCORCHING hot as Luciano is right now, I’m quite dubious on his potential major league impact whenever that may be again. I know he was already a failed prospect with the Giants, but in the case the Yankees ever have plans to use him as a piece for the roster, not sure how his defense + speed + contact rates play up. He’s still featuring sluggish contact rates, a high K rate, slow on the base paths, and isn’t the best defender. On a positive note, his GB% is the lowest it’s ever been in his professional career and he’s going up the middle + pull side more than he’s ever gone.

🚨Marco Luciano blasts his 7th HR of the season! (Back to back games with HR, last 4 hits have been HRs!) #RepBx #Yankees
