As the big vote approaches, a gentle 3000sq/m reminder... even the architect of Brexit said there's no mandate for No Deal. (Projection on White Cliffs of Dover this morning)

Next time someone suggests cycling is solely for the fit and able bodied, send them one of our photos. “The only reason we believe cycling is simply not possible for disabled people is because we have designed that kind of cycling out of our roads and streets.” - @AsEasyAsRiding

@thevelolife @RBWM Surely if this was ever granted it could never be enforced - what are they going to do, demand to see every customer's tanlines? Check if they've ever googled "chamois cream" or "bottom bracket"? What if your neighbour hosts a dinner party who happen to walk over for cake? 🍰

I have now had official confirmation from @RBWM that the injunction that is sought against @thevelolife is still in place. Club rides may NOT use us for cafe stops. Below is the exact wording.

@philgaimon Reasons I'm unbelievably glad I've only ever been ill/injured badly in the UK. The USA is insane.

@RBWM So if the whole membership of my club (>100) turned up in Humvees that would be fine because we'd be motorists? Would it be okay if we parked 200m away, ride a loop from the cars and then drive to the cafe meeting as drivers? This is insane

We have issued a letter to cycling clubs to clarify the situation at the Velolife Cafe. Cyclists can use the facilities at the café but must not arrange organised meets that start, end or stop at the café. This is to ensure nearby residents are not impacted. Full letter in image.

@RBWM How far apart do the cyclists need to be to not be a group? Would 1-minute intervals a la time trial be sufficient? @Doctor_Hutch would be pleased if this was the case.

@jameshall257 @mathtalfan I get beeped at and punish passed almost every single day on cathedral road when I have to move out of the ‘cycle lane’ because a car is parked in it. When I confronted one person their answer was that I should patiently wait until all cars have overtaken me! ffs.

Knocked clean off my bike on way home - hit by car door opening onto (useless) marked cycle lane. The sooner protected lanes are introduced in #Cardiff the better. Bit shaken and bruised (saved by helmet!). But more angry that bad infrastructure put cyclists at risk every day.

Public service announcement: Whenever someone claims something can’t be done by bike, hit us up for some “stock footage”. The Dutch are probably doing it on a scale—and with an effortlessness—they couldn’t fathom. Their lack of imagination shouldn’t result in a lack of action.

Cycling is ”unfeasible” because... ❌ Pregnancy ❌ Toddlers ❌ Dresses ❌ Wintertime With one tweet, @AmberKanwar may have single-handledly won #DutchCycling Bingo. Now, can we please get back to the task of building safer streets, thus providing mobility options for everyone?

@polscotrpu @ChSuptRoads @BigBee46480319 All road users are required to have a valid insurance policy, why are cyclists exempt? Anybody can get on a bike and cycle freely on the road yet no basic training or road awareness courses to be completed. Cyclist safety and that of other road users and pedestrians at risk.

Running late for work? Got a cyclist ahead of you? Don't risk a close or dangerous pass, especially when it could be a police officer on the bike with some friends ahead waiting to chat to you. #OpClosePass is in the #ScottishBorders today. Tune in later for results.

@DVSAgovuk @transportgovuk I always find the focus on learners a bit odd - the most dangerous drivers I meet are mostly 40+ who learned to drive with very different road conditions to today - maybe some retesting would save more lives?

@PompeyCyclist I am starting a campaign against cyclists dismount signs. They discriminate against hand cyclists and others for whom it’s a practical impossility. Ride with care is fine. 5mph is fine. But bikes are mobility aids for some people and those signs make the possible impossible.
