Talking about values and discipline instilled in young people and paying off in later in life, Doctor Doctor Khumalo thanked his father figure and mentor, Doctor Kaizer Motaung for his teachings last week when he was honoured at TUT. Mr. Motaung himself was honoured by UCT with an honorary PhD in 2022.
"To Dr. Kaizer Motaung, you knew me when I was 3 years old. Your mother used to feed me, not knowing that you were actually raising a 'Doctor Doctor' now. But having said that, thank you to the Kaizer Chiefs family and Dr. Kaizer Motaung for giving me the opportunity and for guiding me. Football was never just a game to me, it was a teacher. It was discipline. It was structure. It was hope." He says Mr. Motaung once said to him "Take care of your brand and your brand will take care of you."
Investing in young people, young men, and guiding them with discipline makes them turn out like Doctor, sober and responsible men. I wish young football players of today could learn from Doctor, and clubs to emphasize the dangers of alcohol and ho phapha. They must stop ukphapha, running around with women, drinking and driving fast and irresponsibly. Football has lost many young players to alcohol and accidents.
Congratulations once again to Doctor Doctor Khumalo. 👏🏽 ❤️
