Sometimes life gets in the way of successful trading. When that is the case, it is important to pull back and know the markets will be there when you return. A lot of my losses have come from trading when I shouldn't have - emotionally, physically or just time-wise.

Successful trading can be characterized by long periods of meh followed by short periods where most of your profits are made. Controlling your psychology and risk during the meh phase is the key.

This is how you nail the direction and still take a loss... Yesterday's outlook played out perfectly on both $EURUSD and $GBPUSD and you'd have expected that I made millions by perfectly trading the plan. Fortunately I executed my edge when presented, but unfortunately I was taken out before price went to TP. Can't describe how this feels, but all we can do is to show up for another day in these chaotic markets. How was the start of the week for you?

Nice knowing you $GBPUSD. Didn't enter a trade for a number of days and then enjoyed a choppy ride on GBPUSD before exiting for breakeven. What a horrible chart. Missed some profitable moves on other pairs. Also had some technical issues that were a major distraction. But we keep going.

Yes I think this is super important for psychology and smoothing the equity curve which is underrated. I personally automatically trail SL to BE at 2R profit and am looking at a second more gentle trail at a lower R multiple (below BE) but need to do more testing. I don't like trailing too early. You could also do an automatic trail at 90% of TP. For me it depends on your individual strategy and doing some backtesting of how previous price action has gone between entry and exit. Of course history is an imperfect prediction of the future!

Yes i ended with a winner on DAX… but in the last weeks i had some trades were i was few ticks away from TP… If you dont mind I’m curios about your approach about this: do you trail your SL once your trades approaches to TP, let’s say it’s already at somewhere 80-90% of the entire move.

This week I missed trades that smashed TP by a whisker and entered trades that hit SL. This is the way of trading. All you can do is smile, review and move on.

Outcomes in trading are lumpy. Remember this when you are having a losing streak but perhaps more importantly when you are having a winning streak. Both scenarios can lead to strategy and mindset creep. If you can maintain your composure and ego through lumpiness, you are already miles ahead of the pack.

You must stay firm in your conviction, but ready to flip or dump the conviction once the odds go against you. Always think in % probability and always invert before making the trading decision- always ask yourself what is the worst case scenario that can happen. This is how I train myself evey day before I place my trade.

Disappointment and sadness in life mostly stems from the... GAP between expectations and reality. Every day I try to expect the unexpected and respond to reality rather than what I thought reality would be. This is a lifelong journey. There is no overnight fix.

The action of sitting in discomfort is one of the most powerful we can take.
