@Nufc_fnd So same as PSR on that front? For some reason I thought that had changed

"What actually is SCR?" Asked constantly, explained badly everywhere. So here's the whole thing in one thread, in plain English, no jargon. Because these rules explain half of Newcastle's summer. 🧵🖤🤍 #NUFC

Book value, not original price. Fees amortise down over the contract, and profit is measured against what's left. So a £40m player four years into his deal might have £8m of book value left, meaning a £80m sale books ~£72m profit. It's why long-servers and academy lads are the most valuable sales in the system, and why flipping a recent signing barely registers.

@Nufc_fnd Profit on sales. Is that against original price or book value?

@ToonTakeover_ Newcastle could change the narrative by tweeting every day…there has been no bid. Takes next to no effort to send that. Silence lets the story grow & gives the impression Newcastle are being bullied. Fight back. State no bid received & anything under £90 mill will be rejected.

Very, very obvious that this is now the approach they are taking. Hence the 5-week delay from first interest to the point we are now....still without a bid or talks of any kind. They saw it work for Liverpool/Isak and are hoping it works for Bruno. Copy and paste. #NUFC #AFC
𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 #𝗡𝗨𝗙𝗖@ToonTakeover_

Arsenal are using the same blueprint that Liverpool used to sign Isak.... ✅ Apply MASSIVE amounts of pressure via the media without actually bidding. ✅ Drag it out as long as possible to create a sense of panic/urgency when the bid comes towards the end of the window. #NUFC

Where did he force a move before or after the world cup? So he employs a different agent, so what? Fact of the matter is if newcastle think hes been shady then they will act accordingly, 3 years on his contract, arsneal know the price, doesnt matter how much talking is done without the club if they arent willing to pay then they can jog on.

Sad to see Newcastle United’s captain acting like this. You’d expect him to stay strong with the club as they enter a new era.
Keith Downie@SkySports_Keith

🚨 Newcastle United are braced for an Arsenal offer for Bruno Guimarães, as talks continue behind the scenes via intermediaries. 🥴 Newcastle’s stance is unchanged — they want to keep their captain & are puzzled that no formal club-to-club approach has been made to this point, despite reports to the contrary. 💰 It’s likely to take a bid upwards of £80m for #NUFC to consider a sale. ❓One source has told us Arsenal are expected to make a formal approach soon. They have been exploring a deal via intermediaries over the past few weeks. 🇧🇷 Guimarães has told Newcastle he’d like to move to Arsenal if they receive an acceptable offer.

Right then. Who is Matthias Jaissle and what are we actually getting? Because most of us knew the name for about 48 hours before he became our manager. The CV first and it's better than the "who?" reaction suggests. 38 years old, German, raised in the Red Bull system, the same coaching school that produced Klopp's heirs all over Europe. Back-to-back league titles at Salzburg. Then Al-Ahli, where he's just won the Asian Champions League twice on the bounce. Wherever he's been, he's won, and he's done it playing front-foot pressing football. After the last twelve months of watching us defend leads like a nervous breakdown, that's the profile I'd have asked for. Now the two sticky questions, because pretending they don't exist won't make them go away. One, he's never managed in a top-five league. The step from Austria and Saudi to a rainy weeknight in stoke is real, and nobody knows how he handles it until he does. That's just true, and anyone certain either way is guessing. Two, the elephant. He's come from a PIF owned club, hired by a PIF owned club, and rival fans will dine out on that all season. The connection obviously smoothed the deal, £9.5m compensation and done in 24 hours. But this is also a man the Red Bull machine rated enough to hand Salzburg at 33, who's won everywhere since. What I actually like most is the speed. Howe confirmed Friday, successor announced Saturday, in charge for Valencia next week. Three weeks before Liverpool at home, with Bruno's situation still live, the club couldn't afford a 3 week shortlist drama. Somebody upstairs had this ready. Say what you want about the summer, and I have, but drift isn't the accusation anymore. A 38 year old serial winner with a point to prove, three weeks to save a captain and a squad full of 20 year olds built for exactly his kind of football. Honestly? I'm nervous but more excited than I've been all summer. Willkommen, Matthias. 🖤🤍 First impressions of the appointment? Buzzing, worried, or waiting to see? 👇 #NUFC #Jaissle

Good question, it's registration not age. Wages count once a lad is first-team registered, whatever his age. Players still on the academy/U21 books (academies run to U21) are excluded. And on the sale-profit side there's no age limit at all: homegrown players have zero book value, so the whole fee is profit whenever they're sold, even years later. Status, not birthdays.

🚨 🇧🇷 BRUNO UPDATE! Newcastle United's new Head Coach, Matthias Jaissle, wants a sit-down, face-to-face talk with Bruno Guimaraes. The 38-year-old will sell his fresh vision and philosophy to the Club Captain in a last-ditch attempt to change his mind about leaving. #NUFC

Another good one from the replies: sale profits are AVERAGED over 3 years in the calculation, not counted all at once. Tonali's profit lifts our ceiling by roughly a third each season for three seasons, not in one lump. Which means this summer's sales were partly about funding the NEXT two windows as well. The machine thinks in three-year cycles. Worth knowing before judging any single window.

One addition from the replies, credit where due: UEFA's separate loss rule (~€60m over 3 years) still applies to us until end of 2026 because we played CL last season, UEFA count by calendar year. That's the breach the club are already in talks with UEFA about. Two rulebooks, one summer. All one machine.

Spot on, and worth everyone seeing: sale profits in the SCR calculation are averaged over 3 years, not banked all at once. So Tonali's £100m doesn't buy one mad summer, it raises the ceiling by roughly a third of the profit each season for three seasons. Slower burn, longer benefit. Bonus detail: academy sales are pure profit (zero book value), so homegrown lads are the most SCR-efficient assets a club can own. Good addition, cheers.

@Nufc_fnd You only get to count one third of your sales profit from a player each year.

Fair addition. UEFA's loss rule (max ~€60m/£52m over 3 years) does still hang over us even with no Europe this season, because UEFA assess by calendar year, so last season's CL keeps us in their books until end of 2026. It's the breach we're already in CFCB talks over, covered that saga in an earlier thread. This one scoped to the new PL rules and should've said so. Thread's better with your point in it.

@Nufc_fnd You have missed a massive point, uefa scr restrictions might not apply, but the have there own psr that we have to follow, around 50 million losses over a 3 year period. Your AI slop was almost right
