Carnival cruise line had a glitch on their website. They unintentionally offered a 7 day balcony suite aboard the ship for only $375. Many people jumped on the steal of a deal, only to be informed days later that they were being cancelled due to a glitch and was offered a $100 credit towards future bookings. I don’t know how I feel about this, from a business standpoint this makes sense, they made a mistake and fixed it, it wasn’t like people were being notified the day of their trip. They would have lost millions of dollars due to this, so I see why they cancelled. From a consumer standpoint I feel cancelling is a bad move. It wasn’t the customer’s fault this happened, and most of the time when a store makes a mistake they honor their advertised price no question. I feel this would have instilled value and built more trust as a customer friendly and based company. I do agree the time frame of it wasn’t long, it’s not like people would be really devastated about this because deep down I know this sounded too good to be true. Sometimes I feel the appeal of getting such a good deal blinds us from the reality that we all know that Carnival wasn’t going to honor this.
