Middle Eastern-origin oil on water (crude + products) has fallen by ~175 million barrels over the past two weeks. That's a truly insane drawdown pace of 12.5 million barrels per day.

Can we keep underinvesting in water? As GCF supports @mofauae on the road to the UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi, the case is clear: water is an investable asset class essential to safeguard communities, economies, & ecosystems amid climate impacts. 👉🏽 gcf.co/4rOM4ZD

Increasing grid utilization & increasing demand response to cut peaks would address affordability & reliability more quickly, more cheaply than other options. Those who profess concern about affordability & reliability but dunk on or ignore grid utilization & DR are duplicitous.
Utilize Coalition@utilizegrid

New independent research from @BrattleGroup, out today: the U.S. grid runs at ~50% capacity. Rates are up 5.6%/year since 2020. A 10% increase in grid utilization could save American consumers $110–170B over the next decade. Read it: brattle.com/the-untapped-g… #TheUntappedGrid #UtilizeCoalition

Good morning with good news: Two US offshore wind farms announced major milestones on Friday, March 14. 1. Revolution Wind, 704 MW off RI, is delivering power! 2. Vinyard 1 (800 MW off MA) finished construction! Both cut gas burn. Huge for New England! oceantic.org/press-releases…

The Vortex Turbine by Turbulent Hydro is an eco-friendly way to harness energy from rivers and canals with a low height difference. A single turbine can generate from 15 to 70 kW of constant energy around the clock.

Spent most of my career talking down the endless stream of unjustified oil market alarm. Now I’m acutely alarmed to the point of disbelief, the oil market is still shockingly sanguine, and I feel like this guy.

@TonyHWindsor @JEChalmers A bigly rise in oil prices feeds higher inflation Inflation-adjusted fossil fuels prices ± same today as 140 years ago But economists assure doesn't mean fossil fuels are inflation🤔 (This price rise not actually big) Meanwhile, faster renewables deployment is anti-inflationary

This from Woodmac should scare people more than anything: These 30 companies collectively produce around 50 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (mmboe/d), meeting close to 30% of global oil and gas demand. Based on today’s portfolios of commercial assets, however, they will require an additional 22 mmboe/d by 2040 to maintain their share of the world’s supply. Filling that gap would require the group to add additional volumes equivalent to nearly two Permian basins or 14 Guyana-scale plays.

I see a lot of people cheering on a geopolitical spike in oil price, as a means to justify higher oil prices theories. In my mind, a geopolitical spike in price is detrimental to a bull thesis as geopolitical price spikes are often fleeting. You guys can do better, there are many long term fundamentals to support this thesis, you don't need a war for this. You are doing more harm than good right now.

Nature spills 6X more oil into the oceans every year than all human tanker spills combined. Natural seeps: ~600,000 tonnes annually (longstanding best estimate from National Academies reports). Human tanker spills (last decade average): ~100,000 tonnes/year. Yet the narrative stays "oil industry is poisoning the planet." Reality check: Nature's been "spilling" way more, continuously, for millennia.
