Then, you'll see him at the local market betting and expecting millions of shillings overnight. He has no hen or goat to his name. He still eats in his mother's house. He has a Form 4 certificate or even a college certificate, but the only thing he does is ride motorbikes. The motorbike industry is useless. It builds no economy. It, in fact, drains the microeconomy of the family. For example, when they get involved in an accident, it is the family that will foot for the medical bills incurred, not the motorcycle. Young Luhya men have massive masculine energy, which should be expended on building, constructing, or farming. When this energy is not used, it becomes negative energy that can be misused for political thuggery, violence, or crime. These young Luhya men sit at the local market, wasting their man-hours in the name of boda boda. By the end of the day, if you ask them what they achieved, they have nothing to show for the time they spent riding these bikes.
