NAME is incredibly saddened to hear of the death of Geoff Lealand, a hugely influential and supportive figure in the Media Studies community. Much love to his partner Jo and the rest of the whanau.

@Jamienzherald Could be worth following up with the Media Studies teachers' association @NzName for what schools are actually able to do - given that this is clearly a massive need, it seems a weird time for the Govt to be removing Media Studies from NCEA level 1 in schools!

Surprisingly, I'm bored with Superheroes. Are there any superhero stories other than: * origin of a god * god loses powers; regains powers through discovering their humanity * god saves world by punching other god?

Put metaphorically: how do we get students to have an appetite for something they don’t actually seem to have a taste for, but that they ordered? 😝😂

A reminder that teachers can have immense influence. Had a chat today to a graduating high school student about his next steps. We laughed and commiserated about a tough year, and I congratulated him about getting his first job at a nursery. Then he looked me in the eye... 1/

We are pleased to hear that teachers and school staff have been granted priority access to vaccinations. This recognises the mahi schools are doing to keep students safe and learning at all COVID Alert Levels.
