With more than 50 participants, including 30 representatives from civil society organizations, the workshop aims to strengthen dialogue between the police and communities and promote non-violent conflict management for safer, more cohesive communities. 🤝

In his intervention, he stressed that combating antisemitism is a democratic obligation that involves states, education systems, judicial institutions, and political leadership, and requires public policies, legal frameworks, and clear conceptual tools.

On this #InternationalHumanRightsDay, we reaffirm our collective commitment to dignity, freedom, and equality for all people in the Americas—principles at the heart of the OAS Charter and the Inter-American Democratic Charter. The Inter-American System of Human Rights remains a pillar of protection in our Hemisphere. I commend the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights @IACHumanRights and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights @CorteIDH for their steadfast defense of those whose rights are at risk. We reaffirm that human rights include Economic, Social, Cultural, and Environmental Rights (#ESCER) and the protection of groups in situations of vulnerability—including Indigenous peoples, persons of African descent, older persons, migrants, refugees and displaced persons, and persons with disabilities. The #OAS Department of Access to Rights @OAS_Rights supports Member States in advancing equality and social inclusion, and as Technical Secretariat of @OEA_GTPSS, oversees the Working Group to Examine the National Reports of the Protocol of San Salvador, strengthening accountability and the progressive realization of these rights. Today, we renew our resolve to strengthen democratic institutions, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that every individual can live in freedom and justice. The General Secretariat of the OAS will continue working with all Member States to advance these shared values and protect the rights inherent to every human being.

In my message to the VIII Annual Meeting of the Comprehensive Regional Protection and Solutions Framework (#MIRPS) in Heredia, Costa Rica, I reiterated the commitment of the Organization of American States @OAS_Official to continue working with Member States and the UN Refugee Agency @Refugees to strengthen asylum systems, support host communities, and advance durable solutions grounded in the principles of the OAS Charter and Inter-American human rights standards. More than 21 million people in the #Americas are currently displaced or in need of protection. Behind each number is a story of resilience that calls on us to act with determination and shared responsibility. The MIRPS continues to show that regional cooperation delivers results: in 2025, the #MIRPS Fund—financed by Spain—benefited more than 24,000 people across Mesoamerica, creating opportunities and reducing the factors that force families to migrate. I thank the leadership of Costa Rica and Filippo Grandi @FilippoGrandi, and I acknowledge the role of #Colombia as Chair of the MIRPS Support Platform. The OAS will continue promoting strong legal frameworks, institutional capacities, and inclusive public policies.
