There were far more of them than usual. The moment they arrived, they started shouting in Hausa, "Tashi! Tashi!" ordering all of us to stand up immediately. Among them was a boy called Farooq. He stepped forward holding a Fulani cutlass, and instantly the atmosphere changed. Everywhere went silent. Fear filled the air. He began thr€aten!ng us, saying we must pay our ransom quickly or they would k!ll us. One after another, he mentioned the amount each victim was expected to pay. When it got to my turn, they said my ransom was ₦70 million because I was a farm manager. As he spoke, he used the flat side of the cutlass to strike us on the head. The pain was unbearable. 😭💔 People were crying. Some victims had blood running down their faces. It was pure ch@os, fear, and helplessness all at once. That night felt €ndl€ss. I couldn't sleep. None of us could. The only thing that softened the blows on my head was the brown pullover I was wearing. Till today, I wonder what could have happened if I wasn't wearing it. It remains one of the most painful, terrifying, and unforgettable nights of my life. 💔😔 Sometimes when I remember those moments, I just thank God for keeping me alive. 🙏🏽
