People are getting fed up with the potential AI takeover. There’s a new trend where people are pushing the robots over as a way to fight back. What do you all think about this?

I have a hard time believing that I am just unhireable. But I have an even harder time believing that my 25 years of experience is somehow negated by the format of my resume. But, after over 2,000 applications, I am not sure what else to think. And, out of the dozens of emails (perhaps over 100) to hiring managers with inquiries about what might be happening, I have received ZERO response. I have done some reverse engineering of some popular ATS systems and found some interesting trends; things like translating words like "founder" and "freelancer" to "unemployed", as one example (though, admittedly, the end user of the ATS is responsible for such translations). So, now add to everything else, I am being punished for running successful businesses for over a decade. Kind of at the end of my rope here. I have to start thinking about what retirement looks like, and I am just plain NOT HIREABLE. Career change at this point doesn't seem likely. I have literally never done anything professionally other than write software (at least, not since college anyway). This is actually going to start affecting my way of life, my standard of living, not to mention the people that count on me to provide. Please don't take this as anything more than venting. I am not blaming anyone, and I am not looking for sympathy. I know a lot of you are experiencing a very similar situation!

Was the Universe designed? If gravity was 1% different we would not exist. The fine-tuning of all forces makes our existence possible. The cosmological constant is designed to allow the Universe. The odds of things being random is astronomical. The Universe was designed. Yes!

Ottawa Insider Says Canadians Who Can’t Afford 30% Tips Should ‘Stay Home A now-viral comment from an Ottawa insider is drawing backlash after suggesting that Canadians who can’t afford to tip 20–30% should “stay home” instead of dining out. The remark framed tipping at those levels as a “basic expectation,” implying that participation in the economy now comes with a built-in surcharge. In follow-up comments, the same insider urged Canadians to “support one another” during tough economic times—while defending policies that continue to squeeze the same people being asked to give more. Critics were quick to highlight the disconnect. “Pay higher taxes, higher prices, and now higher tips—then be told if you can’t keep up, just opt out,” one commenter wrote. Others noted that for many Canadians, it’s no longer about generosity—it’s about survival in an economy where the margin is already gone. The suggestion that people should simply remove themselves if they can’t afford the extras struck many as less like advice—and more like a quiet admission of where things are headed. At press time, Canadians were reportedly staying home… not by choice, but by design.

@WallStreetApes Seriously, why don’t we have anything to protect against solely hidden legislation that erode our rights? Something like that should be straight jail. No one can justify passing hidden clauses on an omnibus legislation. This is an abuse of trust plain simple.

This ma ordered a new fridge for $1000 from Lowe’s. When it was delivered, the delivery men accidentally dented the right stainless steel panel on the door. The fridge still works great, but there are three unsightly dents. He reached out to Lowe’s and they took $500 off of the total price, so he ended up getting it for only $500. Would you have taken that deal and saved $500 or would you have taken the fridge back and had the give you a new one that was not damaged?

@BoomerDivvies @FinancialPhys People would still be able to out their family houses within 5-12 years with basic professional income like teacher, etc. Instead engineer and other highly educated professionals can’t afford a house in 25 years. What’s the point to have supply if you can’t afford it?

Many condos that are rented out would never have been built if not for investor buyers. Entire rental building would never have been built if not for institutional landlords. There would be a severe shortage of housing. And everyone would have to remain living with their parents until they’ve saved up enough to buy a home.

@CRIXUSwasHERE @MarioNawfal You already fell off the cliff, the only thing keeping USA up is its position as global currency and with the dedollarization movement, this was threatened. The only move left was to break that movement, impact those supporting it to make even think twice, hence attacking Iran.

@OrevaZSN In the richer country with higher infrastructure maintenance cost, the purchasing power would decrease further, and taxes liabilities to keep things running would exacerbate the already unsustainable system. Imagine society failure at scale, like USSR towards its end.

@OrevaZSN The long term impact would be like an arbitrage opportunity where you profit from a gap between 2 markets. Once enough people capitalize the opportunity, the gap disappear and all markets nivels. This would result in richer country getting poorer, poorer country getting richer

Actually, AI/Robotics will mean everyone can have a penthouse if they want. The output of goods & services will be several orders of magnitude higher than today’s economy. Read the Iain Banks Culture books for the best imagining of how it will be. That said, what is the future you want? Amazing abundance seems the best to me.

Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI. AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.

@danheld Wallet could integrate automatic ping registration, if a wallet can ping the owner can access its funds. The problem with the ping protocol is the traceability and forensic (OSINT) risk context.

@danheld I talked around 2017 about a proof of access concept, where you’d need to register a ping transaction on the blockchain to prove access every X days/months/years (TBD), and where expired wallet that failed to register a ping would be send back to the mining pool.

I'm anti BIP-361. For those who don't know, it deprecates or freezes coins that don't move after a certain migration date (for post quantum upgrades). It's not a full confiscation of every pre-quantum coin, but a good chunk of them. Bitcoin's primary value props: best monetary policy of any money + extremely hard to seize asset. If the protocol for any reason makes these assets "seizable" (destroyed) through a change in the code, then it impacts both of those value props. Granted, Satoshi's coins being cracked would also negatively impact the perception of seizability. However, intelligent market participants will understand this is the lesser of two evils. For this reason, I'm not for any proposal that allows these coins to become frozen.
