People often say domains are an illiquid asset. At first, I assumed it was because there weren't enough buyers. But that doesn't really add up. Premium domains are still changing hands for six, seven, and even eight figures every year.
The value has never been the problem.
For more than 25 years, over $360B in domain value has remained largely illiquid. Not because domains lack demand, but because the market has never had the right structure. No efficient liquidity. No onchain access. No financial infrastructure built around them.
Today, if you own a premium domain, your best option is usually to wait. Wait for the right buyer. Wait for the right offer. Until then, a valuable asset is just sitting there.
That's where Doma introduces DAVs (Domain Asset Vaults).
I don't see DAVs as just another tokenization feature. I see them as a new way to think about domain ownership.
Instead of keeping a domain locked inside a registrar until it's sold, a DAV creates a structure that lets the asset participate in the onchain economy while preserving ownership of the underlying domain.
To me, that's the interesting part.
The goal isn't to make domains more valuable.

Another productive week for @domaprotocol and what stood out wasn’t just a new milestone. It was how product development, ecosystem growth, and real world experimentation all moved forward together.
The platform surpassed $195M in total volume, approached 24M transactions, reached 228K+ tokenized assets, onboarded 55K+ wallets, and now has 620+ domain tokens launched. Those numbers suggest DomainFi isn’t just an idea anymore. It’s becoming an active ecosystem.
On the product side, Doma continued refining the user experience with improvements to the swap page, AI chat, FAQ section, wallet flows and overall interface. Small updates like these often have the biggest long term impact because they make the platform easier to use every day.
One of the week’s most interesting launches was MillionPixelGrid.com, a modern take on the famous Million Dollar Homepage. Instead of simply buying pixels, users own tokenized portions backed by onchain assets turning a nostalgic internet concept into a DomainFi experiment.
It’s another reminder that Doma isn’t only building infrastructure. It’s also showing what becomes possible when real DNS domains evolve into programmable digital assets.

Registrar fragmentation is not just a backend problem.
It directly limits how quickly builders can create products around domain ownership, transfers, lending, and secondary markets.
Today, each registrar may expose different APIs, authentication methods, transfer rules, and status formats.
A product supporting ten registrars may need ten separate integrations, ten monitoring systems, and ten different failure recovery flows.
One integration layer can simplify this complexity.
Instead of connecting directly to every registrar, the application interacts with one standardized interface for ownership data, transfer requests, expiration status, and transaction updates.
A practical use case is a domain marketplace supporting assets from multiple registrars.
Without a shared layer, the marketplace must build custom logic for every provider. With one integration layer, it can process listings and transfers through the same product flow while the infrastructure handles registrar specific differences.
From my perspective, this matters because builders should spend more time improving user experience and less time maintaining fragmented integrations.
The real value of a shared domain layer is not only convenience.
It turns disconnected domain systems into infrastructure that developers can actually build on.
