Apart from his penalty against Switzerland, can anyone tell me what Trent has done in his 34 England caps to warrant such hyperbolic opinion about him missing out? Southgate, Slot, Xabi Alonso and Tuchel have worked with him every day & have all had some level of issue with him

Still can’t believe that England are going to the World Cup without arguably their best passer. Watching fringe candidates labour at Wembley highlights even more the nonsense of Alexander-Arnold’s omission. He’s a game-changing option from the bench. If you have pace out wide in Gordon/Rashford and Saka/Madueke/Bowen and want to launch a quick counter, TAA can deliver. If England are in a shoutout, he can deliver. Risk/reward. #ENG

If you don’t know the backstory of this, let me brief you. Remember Ben White was very hot in that 22/23 season and was regularly called to the England National Team. There were rumours that he would never play ahead of Walker and Trippier back then. There were also rumours he had an issue with Steve Holland (assistant coach) especially. Ben White was angry and left Qatar in 2022. He made up his mind not to play for England as long as Southgate was manager. I’ve seen an interview where Southgate was asked about not inviting him, Southgate said White is the one who’s made himself unavailable. Anyways, he’s back in the England’s squad.

Harry Kane's back-up is fascinating... Bar a 3-game stretch between 27th December and 3rd January, Ollie Watkins has scored 4 League goals in 24 games. Liam Delap has for the most part been poor for Chelsea... Dominic Solanke has only been fit to start 4 League games... I didn't think I'd be saying this in August, but Danny Welbeck and Dominic Calvert-Lewin deserve to be the front runners for that spot. Watching Calvert-Lewin give Guehi and Dias, a partnership quickly emerging as one of the best in the League, a really difficult time for long stretches of Leeds vs City yesterday... Suggests he could also do it on the international stage! I'd love to see him called up at the very least this month.
