It kinda seems like people are just copying what Black Americans say even when it doesn't make sense? "Where would you be without us" makes sense for a minority that's been in the country for 400 years, not a refugee who came in a decade ago.

A Syrian artist living in Berlin posted a video now trending across Germany. Germany welcomed Syrian refugees during and after the civil war and have no colonial past in Syria to atone for. What do they get in return? Resentment, a Third-Worldist rant basically about Western colonizers as eternal oppressors. The contrast with Syria itself is what makes this interesting. Syrians inside Syria today want the West. They want a peaceful Damascus, a functioning banking system, trade, integration into the global economy. The loudest anticolonial voices and movements now sit in Western capitals advocating for things their own people aren’t aligned with.

Germany has been nothing but welcoming towards Syrians.
I remember when I landed in Frankfurt in 2016, grandmas would be waiting patiently at the train station for the refugees to arrive with placards and food and water.
Many of them were taken in and adopted by German families, sent to
school, given a home and some semblance of a family life.
The government provided them
with housing, vocational skills and ample opportunities to build a life. All of it from tax payer money.

Every town in America now has the same fast food restaurants, the same chain restaurants, the same hotels. Different area, same everything

As of recent data, chain restaurants make up roughly 40% of U.S. restaurants nationally. That number jumps to over 60% in some towns
I personally find it very annoying to travel to different parts of America and see the same restaurants, the same stores in the mall, the same everything. It makes travel feel pointless
