OPP Reminder for Moosonee Residents Members of the #JamesBayOPP are reminding residents of Moosonee and surrounding areas that helmets are required for both drivers and passengers when operating Motorized Snow Vehicles (MSVs) within the Town of Moosonee. Helmets significantly reduce the risk of serious injury or death in the event of a collision or rollover. Wearing one is one of the simplest ways to stay safe this winter. Officers will be enforcing that riders: ✔️ Wear an approved helmet ✔️Ensure the chin strap is securely fastened ✔️Follow the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act and local by‑laws Failure to wear a helmet may result in a $110 fine. Officers will continue patrols to promote the safe and lawful operation of motorized snow vehicles in the community. ^mw

More than 30 years ago, the Women’s Memorial March, honouring Cheryl Anne Joe, was held in Vancouver. Today, communities across the country come together on this day to honour missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls (MMIWG) and 2SLGBTQIA+ people. At OPP General Headquarters, the building has been illuminated to honour lost loved ones and reaffirm our commitment to real change. The Calls for Justice resulting from the National Inquiry into MMIWG are more than just recommendations. Within the OPP, they have been deemed an organizational priority involving all program areas. To lead this change, a dedicated MMIWG Team was put in place in 2016. Together, we are committed to re-building trust, ensuring accountability and seeking justice for victims, Survivors and their families.

Come together this #HaveAHeartDay 🧡 Each year on February 14, children and youth across Canada lead #HaveAHeartDay, a national call to stand up for #FirstNations children. This day shines a light on the ongoing inequities many #Indigenous children continue to face in areas like education, health care and child welfare. It’s a reminder that #reconciliation means ensuring every child has what they need to thrive. Learn more at fncaringsociety.com/events

❌ Myth: You must wait 24 hours to report someone missing ✅ Fact: You can report a missing person right away Early reporting can make a critical difference. If you’re concerned about someone’s safety or well-being, contact police immediately. The #OPP never closes missing persons investigations unless they are resolved. All tips and leads are investigated as appropriate, no matter how much time has passed.

This past Sunday, members of #DrydenOPP, the City of Dryden Fire Service, and #NorthWestEMS (@TheKDSB) hit the ice with the @DrydenGMIceDogs for the Better Together hockey game. Together, they raised $1,259 in support of local mental health programs. The Dryden community continues to send a powerful reminder: you are not alone, and mental health matters. We face this #BetterTogether. ^kr

AMBER Alerts are a call for YOUR help to bring a child home safely. An AMBER Alert means: ✔️ A child under 18 is believed abducted ✔️ The child is believed to be in danger of serious bodily harm or death ✔️ Enough details exist to believe that an alert will help in locating the child If you see or hear an AMBER Alert, watch for the child, suspect and/or vehicle described. Report tips or sightings immediately by calling 911. ⚠️ Calling 911 to complain about an AMBER Alert is public mischief and can lead to charges. Learn more at opp.ca/AMBERAlert. #AMBERAlertAwarenessDay

When you call the OPP non-emergency line (1-888-310-1122) your call is answered by a communicator at the #OPP Provincial Communications Centre. When your call is answered, the communicator will say, “Ontario Provincial Police, where is your emergency?” and will ask a series of questions to gather critical information about your situation including: • Location of the incident • Name • Address • Date of birth • What is happening? • When did it happen? • Who is involved? Your responses will help direct you to the appropriate support required for your situation. #Be911Ready: Listen carefully, speak clearly, remain calm and #StayOnTheLine.
