The main difference in my view is that this is new. So early capital allocators are incentivized to sell bc their cost basis is so low. Also revenue is at the cost of inflation that is not remotely close to deflationary. As long as price stays flat, miners and stakers will do fine. Evolving disputes from duo token holders do not help. Data below from their own dashboard

✍️ @zinc_cash has been getting a lot of attention lately. Revenue has ramped up sharply, daily revenue has reached more than $460K, and debates around revenue distribution, plus ZKFG-006 and ZKFG-007, have put it under the spotlight. The project has some similarities with @ORE, so I compared both. What stood out: solana:zinc155BS4mSPk8GXQj4R5hkVDQXcW253pTYq5SGyfi ’s price seems far less responsive to buybacks. 🕵️ Based on the solana:zinc155BS4mSPk8GXQj4R5hkVDQXcW253pTYq5SGyfi's onchain data, sell pressure relative to buybacks averages around 6x, with a median of 3.53x. Compared with solana:oreoU2P8bN6jkk3jbaiVxYnG1dCXcYxwhwyK9jSybcp , that appears to be around 2.2x higher. That may explain part of the disconnect. solana:zinc155BS4mSPk8GXQj4R5hkVDQXcW253pTYq5SGyfi has a much smaller market cap than solana:oreoU2P8bN6jkk3jbaiVxYnG1dCXcYxwhwyK9jSybcp, roughly $3M, yet even with strong revenue and buybacks, the token has not reacted the same way.

My goal with any coin is to accumulate, 0.1% of freely floating supply Big enough to be meaningful, but not greedy No so big that if I trade in and out of position tranches that it makes waves solana:oreoU2P8bN6jkk3jbaiVxYnG1dCXcYxwhwyK9jSybcp

Regardless of how others might interpret my comments knowing my obvious bias, I want competitors to win. Them winning mechanically drives us to do better too. It drives more attention to our category. I love seeing new incentive designs. Good luck to all.

That’s it. I’ve supported both but the constant stream of FUD coming from the ORE community - that’s not a community I want to be a part of. The Zinc community doesn’t do this to ORE. ORE drops 50% because something launches with a better pmf and you guys get so nasty. And I can’t handle it any more. So I’ll be dumping my ORE investment. I’ll twap gentle out instead of a large market sell order because… frankly I’m better than you are. But I’m out. It’s clear the ORE community is not one I want to be a part of any more.

Spam the ticker on twitter with influencers and then extract retail. This is why you pivot to solana:oreoU2P8bN6jkk3jbaiVxYnG1dCXcYxwhwyK9jSybcp DMs saying themselves that $zinc investors rugged ZKFG. Most tokens now sold due to “lack of transparency” and “the rest is held by Sentries & zkfg team wallets. This screams red flag. 🚩 Pivot to $ORE

Is @zinc_cash rugging their investors? 👇 That's a pretty serious accusation, so let's dive into it. There's a live proposal on @MetaDAOProject from the @zinc_cash team to take the ZKFG private. What's ZKFG, and what does Zinc have to do with it? MetaDAO ZKFG token raise has been funding the @zinc_cash team for 10 months while they were silently building Zinc. (proof in the first reply) The original idea they got funded for (ZK SOL) was a flop. And that's fine; startups try things, and when they fail, they often pivot. But then they pivoted to Zinc, and found a PMF, and decided to... rug the investors? As per Zinc's website, 1% of all SOL volume (10% of 10% protocol fee) should go back to ZKFG treasury (see screenshot), but that NEVER happened. (proof in the first reply) So instead of giving $5.5 m — $55m back to investors (math explained below), they decided to keep silent and try to buy back their investors for peanuts, rather than return some meaningful value to them? 👇

Truth is, there will always be another copy paste competitor that pops out of nowhere… which tells me one thing, ORE is an idea that has caught the attention of many people but they don’t truly understand ORE or the vision. Sure they are in for a quick buck, or think they can do better… and by all means let them try, but they seem to underestimate HardHatChad and the way he’s been thinking about this, and also underestimate the experience in the ORE community. Sure betas may attract a few degens wanting to make a quick buck, but whether those degens hang around after a dump is another question. I find two things amusing, …. firstly the way some people focus on the two peaks on the ORE chart and dismiss it too soon without paying attention to the chart for this year and how it corresponds with the developments in the market and for the protocol. Secondly the criticism of being ‘gambling’ when betas increase the focus on gamblenomics, not to mention the high risks involved in most crypto projects as a whole anyway. Ironically, ORE feels like one of the safest places to put small to mid sized capital at the moment, and I’m sure once liquidity is improved this will be true for larger investors also. HHC has made it clear that ORE still has the ability to adopt ideas that work… so let the copy pastas try to make something better, I’m sure it will help ORE win regardless.

There is drama with a $ORE nascent competitor Good for us, if they don’t recover from it, it’ll be bittersweet, bc then we’ll have no rival and likely never. Non-trivial task to catch up to our lead. Also, bad business practices destroying a protocol before the bull run would be the biggest self own.

@ORE_bull The funds are protocol revenue. The protocol is open-source and owned by the users. Thus, protocol's use of funds should not be a surprise imho.

I wonder what solana:oreoU2P8bN6jkk3jbaiVxYnG1dCXcYxwhwyK9jSybcp would look like right now if we were less aggressive with our buyback vault. And spent less than we made as opposed to spending almost everything we made. Our floor would no doubt be higher, bc investors would have to ask themselves, “What if they deployed this over time? What if they Saylor full stack bought?” A six figure deployment into a low float Microcap is the difference of millions, perhaps 10’s of millions. Six figures would have been available if we only deployed 99% up till now. 7 figs if 90%. I still think a staggered steady approach is best but what if.

@HardhatChad Absolutely. Agree it should not be managed by a person. But I was largely thinking about the psychology of investors on the other side when they see a nest egg ready to deploy in unexpected ways.

Definitely the protocol can get smarter about how it uses revenue. There are some experiments under development, coming very soon in v4. At the same time, protocol revenue should be managed by the protocol. It should not managed by a hot wallet with single user or team making ad hoc discretionary decisions about its use, timing, and size.
