@BCJCarter I am praying for something positive to happen, just a little over a month yet to go. Let’s hope and pray.

I'm getting older, the fire has died a bit. I'd hoped for talks between Rome and the FSPPX, hoped for an end to conflict, for peace. But for that, the "bridge builder" (Pontifex) has to be just that. Unfortunately he doesn't appear to want to build bridges with Catholics.

3 men will be ordained to the Catholic priesthood this year for the Archdiocese of Chicago, which serves over 2 million Catholics. Something needs to be done immediately to increase priestly vocations in Chicago. Image: Archdiocese of Chicago Vocations

@RockonSooner @BradyVernon I know our bats were dead yesterday. But even if we did win, we weren’t winning the WCWS because of our pitching this season.

@BradyVernon I've already posted but, again, Tia will become great with every day playing time. This is an issue for Patty, getting potential all stars and not having a spot for them.

@oublinkerbro I was told that the facility has their own training that they feel is better. (They didn't provide detail.) Why not just do BOTH trainings then? The diocese training can get knocked out in one afternoon. It's such a silly hill to die on.

The facility in question is Sanctus Ranch in Pipe Creek, TX.

@melodymlyons @ChristineNiles1 On of the reasons my archdiocese banned parishes from holding events at a local facility run by lay trad Catholics is because the facility refuses to have their staff undergo diocese abuse prevention training. They seem to think their piety makes them immune from abuse.

@theblessedsalt It goes both ways. I’m the only one of my siblings & cousins still practicing the faith. We were all raised in very mainstream, lax NOM parishes. I agree that overly strict is detrimental. However, statistics show the NO losing more % than the TLM.

Found out today that some friends of ours, trads, have only one kid left practicing the faith because the kids grew up to run from the overly strict moral views of their parents. Begging you good folks to make our faith first about encounter and friendship with Christ and to avoid being too strict and imposing more than the Church does. I’ve seen it break so many over the years. Let your kids enjoy things, provided they are not sinful. I’m begging you. Don’t wrap your own hang-ups in the Catholic identity.

@KennethKessner @ChristineNiles1 Christine has covered abuse cases on both sides. But trads need to not think a priest is perfect because he wears a cassock and says the TLM.

@ChristineNiles1 Last month, one of our priests (NO parish) was sentenced for a sexual abuse case last year. And I’m increasingly saddened by Catholic commentators, whom I greatly respect, seemingly perpetuating ill feelings toward the community drawn to the Extraordinary form of the Mass.

Hoping for innocence is one thing. Insisting on absolute innocence and refusing to accept the evidence is another. And taking an objective, realistic approach towards the evidence and concluding that it doesn't look good for the defendant (without definitively declaring guilt) is not lack of charity -- it's realism. As I said in my original post, the trad world has a problem with cultish loyalty to and obsequious veneration of its clergy. I've worked with enough victims to know the way they are shunned and shamed by their traditionalist parish any time they question or call out an abusive priest. It happens much more in trad circles than in Novus Ordo circles, because the Novus Ordo Church has already had its major reckoning with sex abuse scandals and all its fallout. The trad world is only just beginning to have that reckoning (in part because of my reporting). Many trads continue to believe their communities are safe havens, untainted by the problems that beset Novus Ordo churches, including abuse scandals. Not true.
CatholicComedy@catholic_comedy

Sure, some people refuse to believe in objective reality and attacking those who present the facts without bias is wrong, but hoping someone is innocent who has been accused of heinous crimes isn't sinful. Assuming someone is guilty before all the evidence has been reviewed is problematic at best and sinful at worst. You should always hope for a misunderstanding rather than that someone is evil. We are called to charity, especially towards other Christians.

At Spanish mass, when the Consecrated Body and Blood are raised, people respond to the priest saying "Dios Mio, Dios Mio" it's so powerful ya'll.

Major differences include He was the primate of a suis iuris church Communists were literally murdering and liquidating UGC bishops to gulags. His emergency was real He did not have an express Papal command not to do it
Earl of Sodor@NEMonarchist

Cardinal Slipyi: >consecrated multiple bishops against the wishes of the Pope >claimed 'grave necessity' >sacraments widely available; the only 'necessity' is preservation of the historical Greek Catholic Rite in Ukraine >never excommunicated or charged with schism >cause for canonization under consideration dang, that’s crazy

@TheStaad And had not been to mass in months. Christ brought me back on Holy Saturday with confession and then mass on Easter Sunday. I am happier then I have ever been and go to mass most days and pray the rosary daily.

@TheStaad I had been struggling with lust, 🌽, and doing other sins of the flesh. I had to fall in love with Christ and reform my life. I thought I was a “good” Catholic, but struggled with highs and lows. Struggling with the same sins and going to confession. I did hit a spiritual low

When I was a promiscuous man, I was attracting promiscuous women and quickly losing interest in them and losing respect for them because of their promiscuity I’d grow angry at women and at God for not sending me a “good girl” This was nothing more than self-absorbed and self-centered insanity. Sheer madness and hypocrisy. I had no idea about how life really works and that people tend to attract what they are I had to take a hard look in the mirror and realize that, quite frankly, I wasn’t a man at all but a degenerate little boy who never grew up and who thought that the world revolved around me. I was a pitiful excuse for a human being, and I was miserable Through surrender and some very hard work that brought about a painful maturation process, I learned how to be a virtuous and honorable man. The result is that I no longer attract promiscuous women. In fact, I don’t attract many women at all anymore, and I am just fine with that. The peace of mind I experience today has made chastity its own reward If I do eventually meet a virtuous Catholic woman, I’m open to it, but life is so good now that I no longer feel like I’m missing out on anything. I have never been closer to God than I am today The main lesson here is that, in relationships, you really have to be the kind of person that you want to attract. If you’re only attracting people with little virtue or honor, it may be time to look in the mirror and change your ways The irony is that once you do become the kind of person you’d like to attract, you’re no longer lonely even if you’re single. Life becomes its own pleasure Getting right with God is the most important thing anyone could ever do. It will improve the way you deal with everything

@oublinkerbro Yeah, my mom left the church for a while when I was a child and didn't baptized me and then I was an edgy teen and didn't care. Only after losing my way as a young adult I heard the call and the Good Shepherd came for me.

@ChristineNiles1 If anyone thinks this sort of clericalism is restricted to those communities that love the Latin liturgies, I can point to several Novus Ordo Mass parishes where it is rampant. Painting entire communities with broad brushes is not helpful.

This excerpt aired in June 2023, days after traditionalist priest Fr. James Jackson, FSSP pled guilty to possession of heinous child porn involving infants. I'd been vilified for two years for reporting on his case, refusing to buy into wild, unfounded theories that Fr. Jackson was being "persecuted," "set up by the feds," or even the target of "satanic attacks." For this, Fr. Jackson loyalists launched vicious attacks on my personal and professional record. Even the documentary "Mass of the Ages" had refused to remove a snippet featuring Fr. Jackson, with one of the producers calling him a "holy" man after having spent a brief time with him during production. The producers finally removed the clip when the evidence became too much to ignore. While my reporting was eventually (and tragically) vindicated, and Catholics were forced to accept the ugly truth about the pastor they had loved and trusted, problems in the traditionalist community remain: unquestioning loyalty to and obsequious veneration of their clergy, the almost blind faith and trust they place in their community or institution. It's a perfect breeding ground for abuse, as my investigative reporting has revealed time and time again — and this happens in all communities, pre- or post-Vatican II. Unless these issues are confronted and adequately addressed, they will remain a continuing problem in traditionalist communities, and in the wider Church. FULL EPISODE: youtu.be/cUkKw00SaSs
