@Avnrulz @MrCasey62 Emil Kapaun (Korea) Vincent Capodanno (Vietnam) Joseph O’Callahan (WWII) Charles Watters (Vietnam) Charles Liteky (Vietnam) Liteky left the priesthood in 1975 and renounced his MOH in 1986. Sad.

Fr. Vincent Capodanno, chaplain in the Vietnam War, devoted to the Rosary which he often said it in public with his men, was machine-gunned to death from his head to his torso while shielding a downed Marine. He was subsequently awarded the Medal of Honor.

@pluant I wish homilies had catechesis. Our priests start every homily with a story. But it’s never the passages just read. It’s always a story that reduces the gospel to therapeutic moral deism. Every homily can be reduced to, “Be nice. Being nice is nice. It’s nice when you’re nice.”

Preaching is another problem area. It’s often too long. It’s often a catechism class with zero connection to the liturgy of the day. In neither case does it make one want to endure the tedium.
Gopala the Elephant@b0rtcask1

@pluant You couldn't have that now obviously, not enough priests. But even among trads the priest's are like, "Low Mass, oh goody now I can preach a sermon longer than the Mass itself." It's just weird, and tedious as you put it.

@DrNeilStone Then hell it is. Closing the country down was totally excessive and he is the mad dictator who did it. He deserves the Ceauşescu treatment.

@JeffCassman @FrStephenImb Logical fallacy. Is what he said untrue? Who cares if he is a Catholic or Buddhist or whatever? is it untrue that the Catholic hierarchy promotes LGBTQ+? No, it is not untrue. Being true, status as a schismatic or excommunicant is meaningless. Attack the argument, not the man.

@FrStephenImb Father, I think excommunication means he's denied the sacraments, but I don't think it's accurate to say he's no longer part of the Church. He's still an ordained Catholic Bishop. Even if laicized he would still be a Catholic.

@JeffCassman @FrStephenImb Even if laicized, he’d still be a bishop. “You are a priest FOREVER according to the order of Melchizedek.” No amount of paperwork can undo the indelible mark of holy orders.

Clarence Thomas was just 43 years old when George HW Bush appointed him to SCOTUS. He’s now one of the longest serving justices in history. The conservatives in charge of finding Justices should be looking for reliable people in their 40s, who will be around a long time.

@WestConfucian @chunguskitten It’s a very well established fact that Nestorian Christians were in China well before Matteo Ricci. There were also Jews who had been in western China for so long they didn’t know what Christians were and asked Ricci to be their rabbi.

@DataRepublican @HankIgitur Too many people on the right fail to understand just how accomplished & skilled leftists are. They think leftists are stupid buffoons and that everything they touch turns to shit because they’re incompetent. They’re not. They destroy society on purpose and they’re damn good at it

I am going to keep repeating this until people understand this. Karen Bass was not only a Castro operative and Communist, but she got elevated to Vice Chair of National Endowment for Democracy, which is the center of soft power operations in the US government. She is not a "DEI mayor." She is extremely powerful at the global stage. She was actively involved in shaping foreign policy with the Obama administration, especially Africa. Her Ghana visit during the LA wildfires wasn't a vacation, it was part of a Biden delegate to greet Ghana's new President. She was considered HUD Secretary for the Biden administration. Instead, she nominated the person who would become the actual HHS Secretary - California Attorney General Xavier Becerra. Now, let me ask you. If a literal Castro operative gets elevated to this stage, what does this imply about the rest of the United States government?
Jack Posobiec@JackPosobiec

Reminder that Karen Bass is an actual communist who was trained in a Marxist Brigade by the Castro regime

@SpaceX86210 Agreed! Ironically Bishop Barron will talk about how after Vatican II we understand the Church as mission. And yet, never has the Church abandoned souls to the world and been less missionary. It’s like the more we talk about it, the less we are it.

@mattvsmith All of society’s troubles trace back to the Catholic Church’s abandonment of its divine mission. The Church was instituted to be a light to the world, to teach unchanging truth, to call nations to repentance, and to order society toward God. Instead, it chose accommodation.

All society’s troubles are 100% the fault of the Catholic Church. It failed to lead and followed the world instead. Completely opposite of its true mission. The only solution is to recognize that the Aggornimento is an utter failure.

In Ben-Hur: Judah (Charlton Heston), exhausted in the desert, is silently given water by Jesus—only his silhouette is visible, his face hidden. No dialogue, yet the performance transitions from despair to hope with compelling force. William Wyler's cinematography creates a powerful sense of sacredness. A simple moment that becomes the foundation for a journey of forgiveness—and one of the greatest film scenes in histor
