@pluant I wish homilies had catechesis. Our priests start every homily with a story. But it’s never the passages just read. It’s always a story that reduces the gospel to therapeutic moral deism. Every homily can be reduced to, “Be nice. Being nice is nice. It’s nice when you’re nice.”

Preaching is another problem area.
It’s often too long. It’s often a catechism class with zero connection to the liturgy of the day.
In neither case does it make one want to endure the tedium.

@FrStephenImb Father, I think excommunication means he's denied the sacraments, but I don't think it's accurate to say he's no longer part of the Church. He's still an ordained Catholic Bishop. Even if laicized he would still be a Catholic.
