@Brinkhoff_C It’s great that we have more options than just swiftpoint stuff but I feel like this is the Citrix X1 mouse all over again, would be nice if iOS would stop gatekeeping mouse support.

Exciting to share Surface #mouse support for the Windows App on iOS / #iPhone. Repurpose your phone as desktop! Download the ⚙️ drivers and find much more information about it via 👉 lnkd.in/gWaXcd_G

@guyrleech @therealshodan it makes it sound like you're getting actual work done whatever you're typing. Buckling Spring is where it's at, the old IBM Model M keyboards click twice for every keystroke.

@guyrleech @Microsoft @googlechrome It's not deprecated, it got updated for server 2025 and that can cause issues in high IO environments. I've done dedupe of FSLogix with ReFS on Server 2019 before and it worked fine, was doing it for about a year but only 450 concurrent profiles.

@O_P @Microsoft @googlechrome Isn't ReFS deprecated? When trying to find information about dedup, NTFS and FSlogix I came across various people saying ReFS wasn't supported, I think 🤷

So is dedup for NTFS on Server 2025 officially supported by @Microsoft for #FSlogix or not??? Was enabled & working on a system I inherited BUT there was also corruption on that volume. Surely should be supported since a file system feature invisible to FSlogix vhdx
Guy Leech@guyrleech

Seems that the whole sparse thing was a wild goose chase - the reason the files were showing as smaller than their actual size was because dedup had been enabled although various AI says @Microsoft say it is not supported with NTFS for FSlogix gut I cannot find a definitive statement

@guyrleech @Microsoft @googlechrome If you have the ability to move it to a ReFS share I’d do that, I think it’ll handle it better. It’s definitely faster when it comes to shrinking and expanding the vhdx files too.

@guyrleech @Microsoft @googlechrome I guess if your profiles all have a lot of identical static files then you’ll see a benefit until at least the next chrome update as those blocks shouldn’t change. How often are you running dedupe?

@O_P @Microsoft It's more than free space compaction though (w are compacting at logoff) - dedup for instance I think saves at least 4GB per user profile that has the exact same @googlechrome weights.bin file in it.

@guyrleech @Microsoft If you need to recover disk space compact the vhdx files at logoff or on a schedule, you’ll get back the free space inside the vhdx. Use exclusions and redirections to keep stuff out in the first place and scripts to periodically clean them up.

@guyrleech @Microsoft It’s not unsupported but it’s not recommended because it’s a block level dedupe and not a file level one. As soon as you touch the disk the blocks change and all the benefits are gone, and you touch the disk as soon as it’s mounted.

@ViolenceWorks you could expand this to rideshare drivers who need a side gig, they could just circle the block for you looking for parking spots and then pull out just as you arrive. Pay them $5 or so and you skip having to look for parking.

Just imagine the knock-on effects. It's a tax on people who choose a restaurant from tiktok. Oh shit you could just *always* have someone at the front of the line, and auction it. It's the latest-stage capitalism possible!

@guyrleech they share the domain SID but the last part (RID) should still be unique, you'd end up with replication errors if they were identical

@O_P IIRC domain controllers have the same machine SID by design (or at least they used to) - I'll start up one of my other DCs to test this

What's the current thinking/consensus/experience of having duplicate machine SIDs on the same subnet & members of the same domain (different hostnames & MAC & IP addresses obviously)? It's many years since Mark Russinovich said changing SIDs wasn't necessary but what about RoW?

I had some free time, so I updated four of the Citrix documentation scripts to reflect the latest version checklists. Nothing else was added or changed, as I no longer have a lab or access to one. @guyrleech I know you said you didn’t want to use OpenSSL but if you changed your mind couldn’t you install Windows Susbsystem for Linux and call it with powershell from there?

Anyone know of a way to decrypt using an RSA private key in PowerShell 5.1 without 3rd party software (openssl)? PowerShell 7.x works ok but ImportCspBlob method of System.Security.Cryptography.RSACryptoServiceProvider gives "Bad Version of provider" in 5.1 seemingly because uses older .NET
