the main character in Dune isn't Paul Atreides. Paul disappears eventually from the story and is only mentioned in passing in later books. Duncan Idaho remains until the very end, and is actually the last person we read about in the last book.

Duncan being revived throughout the books over and over again is the best literary plot in sci-fi It grounds the reader through an otherwise millennia-spanning journey you don’t feel detached from the universe because there’s ALWAYS a Duncan lurking somewhere doing shit

@MmisterNobody I started sleeping 6 hours + nap mid day for half a year and I’ve felt less tired than when I sleep 8 hours. My brain needs a nap even if I sleep 8, so may as well reduce it. Worked great for me. Find what works for you. Google polyphasic sleep

@nvpkp Since she was a kid she always eat the same food as us. If it has something she doesn’t like (mushrooms) she can take it out. They get used to what you do for them. Other kids are only fed the food they like since babies. So they get used to basic food only.

@nvpkp My 9 y/o is a great eater. Better than almost any of her friends. Still picky, no onions, no spicy food, only likes a few veggies. But we rarely have issues with food. I’m a great cook but also cater to her needs. I don’t make a pasta full of mushrooms for her for example.

Guys paying for things is about competition— not feminism or equality or whatever. If a guy knows that a girl could easily date another man who is on the same level or higher, and that man is willing to pay for things, he will feel like he has do the same to stay competitive.

@parakeetnebula On the other hand having a date that wants to split the check is a great sign of worthiness from a woman imo. Like ok, this girl doesn't just want to hang out so I pay for shit. If I was *expected* to always pay, then it would bother me, cuz it would stop being "nice"

@parakeetnebula I disagree. I like paying for things for my partner, dates, sometimes for friends! I usually earn way better and money is not an issue, so for me it's a nice thing to do. Like inviting people home if you've got a nice garden, or bbq type of thing. Def not competition

@johnny_makes Don't assume your ideals transfer to other countries. People in EU don't use WeWork. Nobody I know does. People work in coffee shops or at home (also nobody works on weekends bro)
