The next couple of days will define the future of this nation. This deeper understanding is why I resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as I follow the leadership of, HE Peter Obi, who today embodies the hope and aspiration of a Nigeria that works.     When I give my word, I keep it. NEW IGP, 48 DAYS TO RETIREMENT The new acting Inspector General of @PoliceNG, Tunji Disu, was born on April 13, 1966. That means he is 59 years old. That is just 48 days before attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60. This is added to the fact that he was until his recent appointment an Assistant Inspector General(AIG). Meanwhile, the same NPF has other fine younger officers and even senior to him in rank. Example is Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Frank Mba. He is 52 years and senior in rank. Mba still have 8 years in service but with the current situation he and others will retire by force. Now, imagine picking a man who has 48 days, over a man who has 8 years. Imagine all the investments made on all the officers going on early retirements. The reason here is not because he is better, but because he is from Lagos (Yoruba) and someone like DIG Mba is from Enugu (Igbo). And this has been the way our country's resources spent on the training of these senior officers are wasted over the years. This has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with competence. I am not saying the new IGP is not competent, i am saying his appointment wasn't based on competence. The story was the same even with the appointment of the outgoing IGP, Kayode Egbetokun.
