Australia relies too much on real estate growth and immigration to keep the economy going. This means other industries and technologies aren’t developed as a source of revenue and prosperity. It leaves Australians significantly exposed to import costs.

There is no liquid on earth that can come near the deliciousness of freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. Americans don't know what it is. All the pomegranate they've ever had is the crappy California stolen water pomegranate. Eating a good Afghan or Iranian pomegranate is one of the top experiences a human being can have.
End3of6Days9 (Helen) 🇺🇸@end3of6days9

This guy juices fresh pomegranates for the first time and realizes he just squeezed out roughly $15 worth of vibrant, seed-free juice… for basically the same price as a $17 bottle at the store. Takes his first sip, goes “Oh my goodness”… Then yeets his glasses across the room in pure disbelief 😭 I'm thinking I need to buy one of these citrus juicers, how about you?

@TruthFairy131 @AlboMP Have you noticed how right wingers have absolutely no solution to offer than to criticise Labour? How about a single workable policy change from you? Greens and the Socialists are the only ones working out real solutions to the Uniparty, both in the U.S. and the U.K.

Community pressure is working - we need to keep this up. Labor is realising that Australians want and deserve a fair return for the sale of our gas to other countries. This can help fund much needed cost-of-living measures. War profits of multinational gas companies are skyrocketing - now is the time for a 25% tax on gas exports. This is urgent. Get in touch with your MP and join the push. theguardian.com/business/2026/…

Pay any debts down over the next 2 months. Fix your mortgage a bit longer than usual. Expect 12+ months of high inflation again after this summer. Etc, etc. If you want to buy any tools or anything that makes you more productive, do it sooner rather than later. A bunch of stuff is going to jump in price by 20-30%.

Hot tip: if you’re on the receiving end of an attack, don’t take cover in one of the remaining undamaged structures. Drivers like seeing their handiwork. This applies less to aircraft that hunt with IR - AC-130s and helicopters.

New Zealand,a first-world country,is now staring down the possibility of running out of fuel in just a few weeks. No strategic reserves to fall back on. Refineries shut down. Domestic energy production crippled. And deep-sea oil exploration banned. All of it the result of short-sighted, self-inflicted policy decisions under Jacinda Ardern. Decisions that traded energy security for political optics. What we’re seeing now isn’t bad luck; it’s the predictable consequence of reckless leadership.

I miss the great days of Labor, when values and ethics were more important than zionist lobby groups. When critical thinking was more important than groupthink. When human rights mattered more than factions. I miss Whitlam, the greatest Labor leader of them all.

As tick follows tock There’s enormous inertia in the upstream part of the global economy. Bulk materials move around in unfathomably large quantities. Supplies are often lumpy, and there are intermediate stockpiles all over the place. Just In Time doesn’t really work if you’re shipping 150,000 tonnes at a time. However, there is a ceiling to the scale of shock that can be absorbed by these upstream stocks. When you destroy $100bn of upstream energy infrastructure, this is no longer just an energy problem. Petroleum products are the base chemical feedstock for the majority of all industries. Whilst metals dominate mass, polymers and composites dominate value. The number of industries reliant on chemicals, molecules, pharmaceuticals, that depend on byproducts of upstream and midstream oil and gas is probably 80% of the economy. Everything is going to wobble, and some things will fall. There’s probably going to be some capital destruction. There will be some winners and a lot of losers. I’ve sat through a bit of resilience planning these past few weeks, and it’s interesting to see how little of that others have done. The best analogy I can think of here is you’re standing on a glorious sunny beach, and the sea is retreating unusually far from the shore, people are still on the beach, whilst I am already sat in my car looking back towards the sea and starting my engine. I see a few other people (who are in privileged positions, and are very well informed), making very obvious preparations, even at extraordinary personal risk to themselves. Reminder, if you operate leverage, you’re going to need liquidity… and so is everyone else. Godspeed folks.

the young man searching for the body of his brother mentions his brother had a broken front tooth. the paramedic points to three unidentified bodies. the first bag he unzips turns out to be the remains of the person he's looking for. his family has been searching everywhere. now they know. now they can give their son a proper burial. they will pray over his body. remember him. the search is over. now their hearts can break without the pain of hope.
