@rmhrisk Key Management is one of those things that means something different to different people.

A team of engineers, designers, product managers, and lawyers at @Shopify worked through the weekend. We are thankful tariffs were avoided, but in case they weren't we were ready to ship a lot to make sure our merchants can thrive in face of change. Very proud of our team.

@souperfan2012 @acnewsitics Imports what? If you include services (Netflix, Disney+, etc.) Canada has a large deficit with the US.
English

@acnewsitics Canada imports 84% from America at no cost; Yes, we subsidize.
English

@JustinTrudeau I don't see how this isn't a declaration of war. We should cut off all: Oil, Energy, Aluminum, Steel, Copper, Potash, Uranium, etc. immediately.
If America is not a viable country without #Canada, we can consider provisional Territory status.

@cgeneral19 @merry123459 Are you sure you don't make too much after taxes? It's based on net family income and foreign tax credit is worked in before calculating the adjusted net family income.
English

@merry123459 For me personally, it's financial. I'm a cross-border worker and since he took office I can't apply foreign tax credits towards the child tax benefit any longer. So yeah, not a fan, I have 3 kids.
English

@SwiftOnSecurity Sorry, the best deal we are prepared to make is to burn down the executive mansion (White House) again, as well as re-takeing New Ireland. Otherwise piss off and sort yourselves out.
English

@canadapostcorp , I don't need or want weekend delivery. I would rather you hire more full time workers during the week.
If you do end up hiring part-time folk, will I get a wage for doing your job and driving to pick things up after receiving a pickup slip?

@MackDrastic @garak47 @helenjo09866384 @lex6m @JohnCleese Over 40k gun deaths. Even if it was only 20k it would still be the second worst record in the world. You somehow think a modest estimate is 8k people a day are saved through defensive gun use?
You are delusional
English

@ObstacleMan @garak47 @helenjo09866384 @lex6m @JohnCleese Again, you’re dopey. Guns save lives. A modest estimate of defensive gun uses in this country ranges from 750k to 3 million. We had less than 20k gun deaths in 2023. As for you, when tragedy strikes you’ll have to call another man to come help you.
English

@MackDrastic @garak47 @helenjo09866384 @lex6m @JohnCleese Head in the sand surrounded by bodies of children. What a shitty uncaring country you have.

@MackDrastic @garak47 @helenjo09866384 @lex6m @JohnCleese Protecting kids with guns gets more people killed. Maybe try making it so only responsible people have easy access to guns.
English

@ObstacleMan @garak47 @helenjo09866384 @lex6m @JohnCleese So because some kids with guns might be mentally ill we shouldn't protect kids with guns. Don't think I need to look up how insane this is.
English

@MackDrastic @garak47 @helenjo09866384 @lex6m @JohnCleese Apparently, at least one armed guard is present in 1/4 of all school shootings. And shootings with armed guards seem to end with more people killed. Doesn't seem to work so perfectly.
Since school shooters seem to be suicidal, the presence of a guard may be an incentive.
English

@ObstacleMan @garak47 @helenjo09866384 @lex6m @JohnCleese My kids’ former high school has armed guards. Works perfectly and provides peace of mind. But you go ahead and leave your kids to be soft targets if you think that’s the best solution.
English

@MackDrastic @garak47 @helenjo09866384 @lex6m @JohnCleese Neat how at Uvalde people you call who have guns were preventing parents from going in and protecting their kids vs doing any protection.
Don't you also have armed gards in schools? And some states with armed teachers? Has it ever worked?
English

@garak47 @helenjo09866384 @lex6m @JohnCleese In a country with a billion or so guns, the only way to secure the meaningful things in your life is to protect them with guns. Meanwhile, something tragic might happen to you or your loved ones and you’ll have to make a call. To who? A person with a gun to come and protect you.

@matthew_d_green The thinking seems to be that in most cases it wouldn't offer a speedup. discover.lanl.gov/news/0816-quan…

@ObstacleMan Is there any reason to believe annealing hardware beats anything classical on this problem?

Dear everyone. From what I can tell, these researchers claim to have cracked 20-bit RSA (which I can crack on a MacBook) using a D-Wave computer (which is not a general-purpose quantum computer) and an algorithm that may or may not even work at scale.

Paper straws are terrible. No one likes them. They suck at sucking. They are bad for people's health and bad for the environment.
Common sense Conservative bill C-380 will legalize plastic straws.
